When will he learn? Root is too good a player to keep chucking away his wicket on high risk shots. It just isn’t working. He should be the glue around which the BazBall-ers should be playing. If he had batted all day for 75* we’d have finished with 600 and India on their knees.

Nothing wrong with the shot. It’s the execution that’s the issue.

Love playing England cricket roulette. Wake up each morning and see whether they’ve been amazing or ridiculously bad.. Love the ‘Bazball’ era, but sometimes they pressure themselves to live up to their expectations to always attack. Why would Joe Root, so often the cement of the innings, play such a poor, badly chosen shot?

That is just embarassing. His contribution to this series has been utterly dismal. All time greats comtribute the most when their team needs them the most. Is Root in that category? Its not just about numbers.
