I hate how people won't allow for egregious metaphors just based on feeling. This slippery slope mentality of "if offensive metaphors are made like this, it sets a precedent of downplaying tragedies and so forth." In an ideal world where people are consistently mindful of historical tragedies and offenses, this approach makes sense. However, regulating how people express themselves without providing the education needed to craft more thoughtful metaphors is unproductive.
