“You just beat the Streak, we ruin that if we have a 50-50 match” John Cena revealed that the idea was worked out by Brock Lesnar and Steve Austin, with Brock pitching a squash at SummerSlam. Cena immediately agreed, knowing a competitive match would undercut the Streak’s impact. The goal of the match was to put Brock over as an unstoppable force post-Streak, preserve his aura, and launch Suplex City as an era-defining concept.

I actually think Brock Lesnar genuinely retired at WrestleMania but somehow WWE got him to work till SummerSlam. You can clearly see from his emotions that he was really done with it. Also they never brought this up in UNREAL which makes it more obvious.

They really told an impactful story in such a short match it’s just CRAZY. – We’ve always seen Brock Lesnar as the beast who just dominates everybody in the ring. – At the start Brock tried to bully Oba Femi, but Oba hit right back and treated him like a complete jobber. Bro straight up threw Lesnar out of the ring. – You could see how frustrated Brock got. He’s never been bullied like that before. Even Paul Heyman’s face was perfect. (It was displaying the fact that Brock is old now) – The way Oba pulled Brock’s hair… I bet Lesnar told him to do it, because i never seen someone treating brock like that ,but damn, Oba looked like an absolute monster there – And when Oba didn’t even sell that F5, man, it made him straight up menacing. Then he crushed Brock and pinned him clean. – A new star is born and his name is Oba Femi. – Brock Lesnar did his job PERFECTLY.
