The post office is self sufficient (you buy stamps) I paid into social security (it’s a Ponzi scheme not a social program) Trump initiated the Trump Accounts that could very well replace SS. Why are politicians that support public education sending their kids to private schools? (Yet voting against abolishing the DOE?) I pay for the fire department and police. None of these are social programs.

Social Security was paid in by recipients, it is not a Socialist Program. Just like Medicare were we paid in monthly from our paychecks and pay monthly at retirement to use it. As for police & fire department, etc... we pay taxes to fund it from our capitalist jobs. You seem to have a mis understanding of Socialist. The fact that everyone has wildly different definitions of socialism and socialist democrats is really really unfortunate. I’ve heard many, even folks I like, say completely different things! To most people when they hear the term socialism they think of government owning the means of production I.e. businesses which, like me, I bet 99% of Americans are strongly against. The other stuff you mentioned as socialist isn’t imho, just a function of government for a democratic republic running a capitalist economic system. People are just getting more confused over terms they find scary and that are being weaponized. Unfortunate. I have no answers for clearer communication.
