Billy Graham believed in Universalism and was also known to cozy up to the Pope on occasion.

Okay, Billy Graham was wrong about some things. John MacArthur was wrong about some things too,as hard as that is to believe, it's true.

So… all those crusades were an utterly needless waste of time and money? (As is all missions and evangelism)?

Oh wait. I see the Confusion. Billy Graham is not a Calvinist. John MacArthur and you are. In non-Calvanism the book of Romans 2:14-16 is taught that those eho never hear the name of Jesus but seek righteousness from their conscience will be Judged in that manner. According to this teaching they are "saved".

Of course what Graham said here is false. Doesn't make him a false teacher. Let me give another example. Augustine got justification and sanctification mingled and messed up. And this is a big, big deal. Was Augustine a false teacher?

I believe the grace of God is far greater than we know. Do we know if someone who dies never knowing Christ or hearing the word of God is given a chance post death? No, we don’t. Only God can judge one’s salvation.

The greatest crusader

Inexplicable comments toward the end of Billy's life that were otherwise inconsistent with his preaching. We don't hear the rest of what John MacArthur said in that clip. That interview was aired by Robert Schuller, who amplified the comments as consistent with his own aberrant preaching. I still remember visiting Schuller's church for a funeral and seeing the statues of Schuller that he erected to greet people at the entrance - a megalomaniac and self-idolator. His family was a mess and after his death, there were wars over his estate. The building is now owned by the Orange County Archdiocese.

Psalm 19:1-4 The heavens declare God's glory, and creation communicates His existence throughout the earth, even without spoken words. Romans 1:19,20 “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.” Seems possible. Even without spoken words is interesting to think about.

R.C. Sproul admired Billy Graham, and rightly so. I’ll just leave it at that.

I stand corrected. Thank you

Do you have a better topic to talk about? I’m a Calvinist but I disdain what you’re doing.

Billy Graham led a great many people into the gates of hell. His alter calls utilized the emotion of people. I have read so many times & know from experience that the people who went forward did nothing. Many of these people continue onto seek feelings and some sort of religious experience. Franklin Graham himself owns a bunker in Alaska. There’s no faith involved. No repentance, no remorse of sin.

Yep

John’s Lordship Salvation “leaky Catholicism “ was the worst thing in 40 years. So there’s that’s.

@grok summarize

Johnny boy defending slavery.

I don't know who is running the Billy Graham account here on X but they put out many heretical statements. The saga continues.

I was never a fan of Billy Graham.

This clip is lacking way too much context.

OSAS is a favorite doctrine of Satan to use

Graham's doctors in 2000 discovered normal-pressure hydrocephalus (excess fluid on the brain) which caused memory issues, forgetfulness & required shunt surgery near the end. No doubt he preached the gospel in his prime years, but that (work) won't necessarily save him. God knows

So an old Reverend Graham mis-stepped in a conversation with a universalist, and came off universalist. Anyone who knows Billy's history know he struggled with the sin of Peter in Galatians 2. But what about his lifelong ministry, where he affirmed what he seemed to deny here?

“Slavery is not immoral. God allowed it. Slavery is not a sin.” - John MacArthur

Only Jesus.

Wow, I did not know that. Are we sure this isn’t AI or that Graham actually said that? Curious

I like Mac and RC. Both thought provoking and good teachers. However, I don’t agree with them in lockstep on everything either.

Sorry doubters, John MacArthur pinpointed ‘the all inclusive’ message that prevails in the church today! You must be born again! John 3:3, John 3:6. No gray areas when it comes to Jesus Christ my Lord!

Well this comes to mind:

Seems like Graham didn't take the whole "narrow/broad path" verse into consideration.

not defending Graham, but MacArthur said the Blood of Christ had nothing to do with saving you. Heretic evil thing to even speak of. its on youtube

Both MacArthur and Graham were Dispensationalist which is now driving our national foreign policy to support a war in Iran at the behest of “our closest ally” in the Middle East. It’s also getting a lot of Christians bombed in Lebanon and Gaza.
