encryption is only as good as the key management used to protect it.

he literally explains why encryption is a great tech. it's just not enough when you have a big red target painted on your back, there are other ways to get you

Encryption is not useless. He’s explaining that literally every company has a backdoor to any information for any user.

Encryption still stops interception—not compromise. If your endpoint is owned, your secrets are too. Threat model matters more than tools. Patch your system. Verify software. Limit permissions. Use hardware-backed keys. Separate identities. Rotate credentials. Assume breach 👇

While what he says is partially true, it is mostly fear-mongering. If you have any networking experience, you can know what goes in and out; If you're a MacOS or Windows fan however, well you didn't care about having privacy to begin with.

the notion that encryption is useless applies to zcash / zec, monero / xmr, and any other "privacy coin" in totality. these platforms are not "private" any more that your lawn is private from imaging satellites

I don’t mind people going through my phone. I’ve got nothing to hide, as long as my data is not used to hurt me in any way.

This guy is so right it is not funny... if "they" want in your device, "they" are getting in... you might think you are smart, burner phones, or VPNs let me give you a quick Easter Saturday sermon... it goes a bit like this... this all assumes "they" have taken an interest in you though... so you take your burner phone, where "they" are monitoring the phone that they know about, but hang about, in their little gadgets, they see another phone, iPhone address, Mac address or what have you, always together, which A.I. can pick up those similarities, click, just like that... now, they target that device, phone it, send something you think is an ad, to garner a "time" that the message was answered or accessed, whoops, looky here, same place same time... they got your burner phone... now they will get in it in minutes. What about a VPN, well, what about them, ever noticed how your VPN's always, and I mean ALWAYS kind of always, drop in and out... again, for the most part, that is all fine, but if "they" are interested in you, that micro second that it drops out when they have already narrowed down a few things allows A.I. to get your real addresses... I have even had them slow my network down whenever I accessed my computer on a VPN so that it was annoying, which led to what? Me getting frustrated, switching off the VPN and that was enough... they were in... THE NUMBER ONE RULE IS CHANGE YOU PASSWORDS REGULARLY.

And it is ever worse than what he is saying, they don't even have to get malware on your devices, they OWN the public certificate authorities & all the servers meaning they can decrypt EVERYTHING & save it just like they do with unencrypted info

use linux, it has no surveillence and linux is too niche for hackers to profit (They would have to make a virus for every possible distro and device combination, either that or it somehow runs a damn makefile which i HIGHLY doubt)

I mean, he's kind of wrong, but he's mostly right. Encryption does work -- but he's right that encryption doesn't make a difference if you can get the data before it's encrypted or after it's decrypted.

Profilbild von Sadique

Encryption hasn’t failed—attackers just changed tactics. It still protects data in transit and stops interception. But today, attackers target endpoints instead. If your device is compromised, your data is exposed before encryption or after decryption.

mcafee understood that the weakest link is never the math - it's the device, the person, or the company that holds the keys. encryption only works when there's nothing left to subpoena.
