John Oliver needs to make a second episode about why body cams are deceptive and bad, ackchyually, using absurd hypotheticals and cherry-picking.

First they were screaming for all cops to be wearing body cams and now that the body cameras have shown that most police officers use appropriate force they are saying that body cameras are deceptive. Do they want a full Hollywood production crew to come with every police unit?

In the full episode he complains at length about chest mount angles, but he offers no actual solution. Does he want head mounts that swing with every glance and make the footage impossible to watch? Cameras on shoes? What is he proposing? A film crew? Body cams backfired on the official narrative, so now he just wants to muddy the water around the footage itself.

Body cameras showed that the anti-cop movement was completely wrong and that yes police do need to use force to stop these threats they face.

Why do people like him? He’s not bright and not funny?

A show like John Oliver’s is ideal propaganda because it allows the host to lie, mislead, and rely on fallacies without being challenged in the moment. If someone calls him out later, his defenders just say it was only a joke. But it is not only a joke because every episode is driving toward a political argument. Most episodes are just appeals to ridicule and cherry picking.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I much prefer watching Bill Maher. He has issues but he’s been relatively consistent and he has a panel so you can pushback and debate in real time. Conservatives largely aren’t good at comedy and talk shows in my view. Comes down to being low in openness.
