I used to see John walking down from Celtics training ground on London Road back to the stadium. He would have a cigarette always on the go , I would wave to him out the car and he always would wave back . Top man

My hero, my inspiration as a kid, I even wore tape around my socks like Robbo did when playing footy for club & school. I also cheered his penalty against England at Wembley being an England fan 🤣. Thanks for everything ❤️ RIP ROBBO

My memory of him as a Manchester United fan is he always managed to get a cross in. He always dug one out, even though he was right in the corner. Always a great cross as well. A brilliant footballer. RIP John. A true legend.

@TaylaMcGrath6 I’ve played against him as a 19yo on meadows footy pitches when he played for Waggon and Horses Sunday league, he must’ve been 41/42, obvs out of shape , he played in defence and didn’t run at all but he was pinging balls to feet for fun. Great tribute for a great player. He used to stand at the end of the bar in Faces with a fag on and beer in hand and would happily speak with anyone. Always smiling.
