John Travolta practiced the "You Should Be Dancing" solo for 9 months. He threatened to quit the movie if they used a stunt double. That’s pure "main character" energy.

Travolta said he saw a rough cut of this scene and was ticked off because the director had used close ups of faces during this scene instead of seeing his feet and the dance. Travolta had to school the director on how to re-edit with wide shots so we could actually see him dance.

One of the greatest low-budget films of all time...The Bee-Gees wrote many of the tracks before they even saw the film. Great dance moves, Mr. Travolta! Go Brooklyn! Peace. @Miastune

As I understand it, Travolta saw the dailies and they had shot him from the waist up. He just about lost it. He told them he was going to have this sequence filmed showing his full effort, or they'd find themselves a new boy. Ironic that it's the hallmark of the film.

It’s great to see a person committed to the craft. I must digress. An individual purchased the disco floor John Travolta is dancing on. How much did he pay for the floor and I hope it is still operational.

In today's world! If a guy starts dancing like that in a bar, either the police will show up or the bouncer will throw him out... I'm glad I grew up back in those days!

utter bullshit. He was hired because he could dance. The idea of paying extra for a dance double is so stupid if you know anything about the film industry in the 70’s and 80’s.
