Today I retained a very established, competent, attorney, and the realtor came and got that shit out of my yard REAL QUICK. They are LEGALLY not allowed to sell my house and they know that. Back at my mom’s house I was sitting in the living room playing video games in my my underwear, I was around 12 years old and ever body was working until about 5pm so I still had a few hours before anybody was there. I usually kept the doors locked but the front door wasn’t locked, I just didn’t know that yet. I walked into the kitchen to grab a snack and a drink. I didn’t know that a family of three people just walked into the house. I came back holding a bag of chips and a drink and I saw two people standing there and another one just sitting on the couch like they were supposed to be there. My 12 year old brain couldn’t comprehend what was happening and I ran out of the house and to the neighbors house. I finally calmed down and told her what was happening, she grabbed her husband and went over there, I’m surprised they didn’t call the police first. The people in the house told the neighbor that they were friends of my dad and they were visiting from Pittsburgh. My neighbor called my dad at the restaurant and confirmed he knew them. He ended up leaving the restaurant and coming back early. His friends confused what days he was off from work and decided to come by and visit unannounced. He also told them it wasn’t a good idea to just walk in and that even though they were friends they should always knock on the door. I had never met these people before so I thought it was some kind of home invasion, it scared me. But from that point on I always made sure the doors were locked and that I was dressed decently just in case of unexpected visitors.

So on a warm Saturday in June , instead of a normal quiet day at home, they loaded the old Bernese into the back of the van and drove him two hours to the coast. Baxter had never seen the ocean. He was 13, and his whole life had been the backyard and the same worn spot on the living room rug. The kids wanted him to see something big before he went. He moved slow getting out of the van. His back legs weren't what they used to be, and the boys had to help him down onto the sand. For a second he just stood there at the top of the beach, nose up, taking in all that salt air and open water like he couldn't quite believe it. Then something in him shifted. He started down toward the surf on his own, stiff and determined, the way he used to trot to the door when the kids came home from school. When the first cold wave washed over his paws, his whole face lit up. He didn't run, he couldn't, but he waded in up to his chest and stood in the shallow water with the sun going down behind him, and the whole family just watched. Nobody said much. They didn't need to. They stayed until the light was almost gone, taking pictures, letting Baxter rest against their legs, giving him one perfect afternoon to hold onto. There is a state park by me that closes when the sun goes down for safety reasons. I always see people find a way in there to do what they need to do. No matter what they do mayor be add a gate or even have more law enforcement, there’s no stopping it. These people are sitting in their car. They see people walking in and out of the woods while they are sitting there eating and chatting. The people going in and out look so out of place, like they are in a zombie apocalypse. If I saw people just struggling in and out of the woods, looking dirty, no flashlights at all. I would think they are up to something. Especially for the hikers making their way back and hearing rumbling and voices I would be creeped out too.

The way they're walking in perfect sync, being so absorbed in each other that the rest of the world slowly vanishes around them. And they are so content in this, to just finally be side by side. That's what being with your person feels like 💖 Also when yk C hates flying but he put up with it cause being with H is what mattered most. They love each other that much, they really do 😭
