Modern cities are being built on claimed swampy or ocean lands and here we are Kenya having Methuselah like Prof Nyikal excuse the incompetence of Sakaja with “Nairobi was built on a swamp.” We have major global cities like Singapore and Tokyo built on regular and more vicious storm paths. Why are we excusing incompetence? Which swamp was Nairobi built on? Swamp of incompetence? We need to plan for a resilient city. Don’t excuse the incompetence of a governor who was just a cyber cafe attendant by blaming nature.
