If diabetes is the joke, what is the punchline? Gracie was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 1, not through eating too many sweets or chocolate but because her body decided to attack the cells of the pancreas. Unfortunately Easter is normally a prime time for jokes from all sorts of people linking indulgence and sweets with the condition. Jokes are often seen as harmless, however they perpetuate the stigma and misunderstanding of serious conditions, in this case diabetes. Diabetes in general is a condition where a person is unable to handle the breakdown products of carbohydrates (sugar) in a way a non-diabetic person would. This is important because the cells in our body rely on sugar to get energy, but this has to be done in a controlled way. People with diabetes have an issue with insulin specifically. There are many different types of diabetes including gestational diabetes, which is seen in pregnancy, and steroid induced diabetes, which is brought on by medications. The two most well-known types however are type 1 and type 2. What doesn’t cause diabetes is eating too much chocolate! It ranges from your genetics to viral loads and even your vitamin D levels! In 2012, diabetes in total was the direct cause of 1.5 million deaths globally. Often, it can be deadly before you’ve even released you are diabetic! What is more worrying when seeing public figures making jokes about diabetes is that there is increasing evidence of significant mental health concerns within children with type 1 diabetes with nearly 40% of type 1 diabetic children seeking assistance from mental health support teams. Gracie has completely owned her condition, playing sports and even going on TV. “Good morning!” Toddlers are up being friendly ahead of most people. As some of us who live or have lived with them can attest, this often starts at 6am, or earlier…😊 A bright and happy “good morning” is a toddler greeting they don’t miss as they get excited about their day and want others to be excited too. And although many of us are not as awake as them during our mornings, it can help us, and those around us, to give that cheery “good morning” to everyone, including strangers. In a study looking at the behaviors of 60,000 adults, researchers from Turkey found that people who had these types of momentary interactions had increased wellbeing by establishing belonging. Lead author Dr. Esra Ascigil explained the reason for this as “Having a sense of belonging involves feeling like you are accepted and valued by other people – it is often considered a fundamental human need.” And we see this not just in the morning, but throughout the day as toddlers and preschoolers walk around malls and grocery stores greeting strangers much more than adults do. 2025 has been a good comeback year for the Wales family❤️ As Queen Elizabeth was quoted saying: “The lessons from the Peace process are clear: Whatever Life throws at us, our individual responses will be all the stronger for working together and sharing the load”👌🏽 Last year, the Royal family felt like it was crumbling with the “Annus Horribilis” of cancer announcements. And yet, seeing everyone carry on and especially seeing how the Wales family handled all the pressures and challenges they went through as a family is heartwarming to witness. 2024-2025 saw the story of a young family going through challenges and tribulations together and overcoming together❤️ As Prince William said to Brazilian Host Luciano Huck about sharing Catherine’s cancer journey with their children: “Every family has its own difficulties and its own challenges. It's very individual and sort of moment-dependent as to how you deal with those problems", “We choose to communicate a lot more with our children […] Sometimes you feel you're oversharing with the children"👌🏽 "But most of the time, hiding stuff from them doesn't work, and so explaining how they feel, why that's happening, giving them other viewpoints as to why they might be feeling like they are sometimes helps give them a bigger picture, and they can relax more into it rather than being really anxious about 'what are you hiding from me'?". "There's a lot more questions when there's no answers."❤️ One can tell by how this family moves as “one body” that they are a very tight knit family with children who are quite emotional aware and attuned to their parents’ emotions. What a proud moment for Shurugwi! On Monday Shurugwi 2 High, young students and young women from the town had a rare chance to be inspired to aspire for more when they met one of our very own, Miss Universe Zimbabwe, Roseanna Hall during her homecoming celebration. I believe Mike is one of the most down to Earth and influential artists working today in art and technology. How he and his brother, Scott, push the boundaries of art, experience, participation inspires us to think and create in new dynamic ways. Not only is he pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and show us things we have never seen before, he cares deeply about other artists; His community! Mike lead millions of artists to think about NFTs in 2021 which was a huge first step for the future of preserving art. When people ask me why I don't deal with alotta people..I bring up situations like this.. I hosted a live event with 4 (Dalvin Cook) last year to give FSU fans something dope after a rough season I let the Jax Seminoles club be a part of it (even though I didn't need them to make it happen)..could've gotten 4 on my show regardless, I just like showing love That being said, my goal is to do more live events where I get to celebrate FSU legends, and alum..highlighting their careers, businesses, etc..of course I'll do events that aren't related to FSU as well During the process one of the people involved on the process tried to backdoor me for some 💰(ahh silly rabbit) It was dumb to me, because it wasn't a crazy amount of money, and it wasn't worth messing up a relationship..folks be thirsty tho..and I'm big on principle You ain't gonna eat off of me (especially in a situation when I don't need you and I'm looking out) and then try to finess too lol.. I was sent this video of them taking all the credit for the event that wouldn't have happened without Trials To Triumph, and they tried to zoom in and crop me out of the video lol People will move dirty then play victim and be mad at you for calling them out on it lol..I wasn't the only one upset..my sponsors were upset, and didn't wanna do business with the person from the club anymore I'm sure that this is not a reflection of everybody involved with the club..not a smart way to treat alum though This is also a good lesson for someone else who may be going through situations where people try to play with you, lie on your name, or steal from you..sitting there and be quiet will only make the issue worse in the long run..use your voice and speak up, otherwise you're responsible for the other people later down the line that end up with the same experience that could've been avoided if they were made aware early on That being said, while folks were trying to finesse, we were locking in deals with national brands, and will be hosting a lot more events this year..I definitely wanna put something special together in the spring and before the season for FSU fans Full episode with Dalvin Cook is on YouTube, and we have a Huge episode dropping with Derrick Brooks tomorrow as well‼️ Stay 💯
