After 3 incredible years and 1.6M students later, my journey at ALX Africa has come to an end. It has been a life-changing experience, during which I made a lot of friends, worked with an incredibly dedicated team, and met so many talented students. A few numbers. We scaled from a few thousand students to 1.6M students on our platform. Students loved it and many of them took more than one course: 4M total! For the famous #ALX_SE Software engineering program, our SE students made an average of 2,000 commits and our checker reviewed 180M of their projects. That’s 2B lines of code… and that was before Claude Code. They actually wrote these themselves (unless Kimba said otherwise :) A big thank you to all my SE team mates, I am so proud of what we have accomplished, and I will really miss you all. Thank you to Fred for the trust he put in me and always supporting my crazy new and disruptive ideas. Thank you to my students. It was an honor to work with you, watch you struggle but relentlessly move forward, no matter what, until you got this job. To those who are still struggling finding this job, keep pushing forward. Don’t let go. You got this. You all have worked so hard and I am so proud of you. You are the greatest thing I've ever been part of and I can't wait to see what impact you will have on the world. I’m a 22 year-old content creator with a passion for Tottenham Hotspur. I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at a young age, making me a wheelchair user for all of my life. I think I've stumbled onto the future of building startups. It wasn't supposed to happen this way. It's 2 AM. I'm editing a podcast, questioning every life decision that led me here. I've already burned through hundreds of thousands on this thing since 2021. Zero monetization. Just burning cash. My business partner's probably thinking I've lost it. We're juggling 6 businesses, and here I am, playing wannabe Joe Rogan. Then it hit me. Not during the podcast. In the darn comments section. I start sorting comments by "contains question" using this AI creator tool called VidIQ. "How do you validate ideas?" "What tools do you use?" "Can you dive deeper on XYZ topic?" These questions keep popping up. Over and over. That's when the lightbulb went off. What if I could turn this into a lead magnet machine? Find questions. Answer them with free stuff. Rinse. Repeat. I team up with Design Scientist to crank out 2 lead magnets a month. (Tried doing it myself first. But it was hard lol) We start pumping out things like "6 Tools I Use to Find Startup Ideas." Suddenly, I'm drowning in subscribers. 10,000 to 20,000 a month. On autopilot. Now, you're probably thinking, "Cool story, bro. But how's this a big idea?" Clarity of what to build is probably one of the most valuable ways to build products people want. You have to understand a niche's problem better than they even know them. Problem: what's the roadblock keeping founders stuck? Segment: group these founders by their specific obstacles. Product: build the bridge that gets them over their hurdle. I use ConvertKit like a scalpel, dissecting these segments. Not by age or location. By the problems they're desperate to solve. Suddenly, I'm staring at a treasure map of founder pain points. And that's when you can build startups to solve their problems. Instead of being a lead factory, you become a startup factory. You use tools like v0/replit/cursor to prototype like a madman. And it makes your life less stressful as a founder. Because you know people are lined up to buy the products. I'm so convinced this is the future of startup building, I've bet $1M+ of my own cash on it. Building startups to solve people's problems. And cool part is this blueprint can be replicated in any niche. The best SaaS ideas aren't in some Silicon Valley incubator. They're hiding in your "free" content. Think of it like this (Isenberg's formula?): (Engaged Audience) x (Targeted Lead Magnets) x (Problem-Centric Segmentation) = Product-Market Fit on Demand Here's the step-by-step: 1. Use AI/software to categorize every single audience interaction by problem type. Build a heat map of pain points. 2. Create ultra-specific lead magnets for each major problem cluster. Think "5-Step Framework for Validating SaaS Ideas" not "Generic Startup Guide". I also use free communities as lead magnets. 3. Forget demographics. Segment by the problem they're trying to solve. I've rewritten this several times, but I can't find any better way to say it... so here it goes. One of the things I'm scared of most, is time. Particularly, time that is wasted. There's a sundial that hangs on my wall with an inscription that says, "I have done nothing good today, I have lost a day." X has always been a place where I wanted to put out things that didn't waste anyone's time. Whatever post I put out, whatever thought, whatever story, comment,... whatever it was, was worth the time for you to read it, and for me to create it. Because I know, in my bones, that the time we have is precious and thought of wasting even a minute of yours or mine doing something worthless, is genuinely one of my greatest fears. As we were walking down this mountain together, my son looks up at me and says, "Dad... God made me VERY good at hiking." I laughed and say, "Yeah he did!" A couple minutes go by and he stops, he turns at looks at me, and goes: "Dad, God made you VERY good at work and work is very important..." That got me. I often worry that my work pulls me too far away from my kids. Even more than that... ...I know that what I do on X does cause and will cause life to be harder for my kids than if I chose to remain silent Walking off that mountain, one of my deepest fears about wasting time was answered by the very person I was afraid I might be hurting. As a dad, that means everything.

The dumbest line I keep seeing on X: China has no helicopters, so it can’t rescue Gyirong Port. These people still picture China as the Opium War or North Korea. Get a passport, go to China once, and that whole fantasy falls apart. I just grabbed recent Tibet helicopter clips off Chinese Douyin—posted casually by ordinary tourists. I’ve been to Tibet five times. At least twice I ran into a Chinese combined-arms brigade on exercise. I grew up a military nerd, drooling over U.S. kit. Then in middle age I watched a line of armor and missile units I still don’t have words for, stretching from Lhasa toward Shigatse. I won’t post those photos. National security. The scale and the modernity shook me. If anyone picks a fight on that border now, they’re the joke. Americans who actually understand this started trying to contain China. That’s respect for an opponent. Random accounts barking online don’t know, and that’s fine. Suggestion: get a passport. China is open. Go look. It is spectacularly easy to get shadowbanned on X One wrong reply and your reputation can go up in flames Luckily there are a few steps you can take to reduce your odds of getting banned by 10x 🔶First step: Don't reply from notifications Notifications are a minefield because hidden, spammy replies are shown to you as normal replies It's never worth replying from here.
