The shot selection is out of this world. Jones has so many tools to his disposable and he actually has a brain so he uses spinning technique or cool looking kicks not to look flashy but use it when there’s an opening for it. Some fighters will just throw it for the take of it

Alright after watching it like this, JJ is a genius. He kept throwing the low kick. Towards the end of that 1st DC was starting to react. Next rd even the announcer said JJ was throwing the low kick then JJ switched it. Victory.

I remember I was rooting for Jones, but that night I thought it was going to be the night he was going to get caught. Maybe fueled by hate, Cormier was getting tagged often with a variety of strikes, but he wasn't backing down... until the head kick of course.

Dc is good but no where near the level of Jon Jones

The buildup to that fight was pure theater, but the finish was absolute clinical engineering. Jones reading the tendency to dip to the power side and timing that head kick perfectly was peak fight IQ. One of those rare sporting moments where the reality completely lived up to the massive hype. 🛠️🥊
