Keegan Bradley says losing the Ryder Cup at Bethpage was the “darkest time of his life”. However, he also would love to do it again and “avenge that loss.” Speaking ahead of the Hero World Challenge, he said: “I have this like gaping hole in my career now that I don't know that I'll ever be able to fill. I know olive branches were given out, you know, a couple months ago. Brooks took 'em up on it. So I'm not sure what would now change. Obviously with, if it -- and I don't even know, that doesn't necessarily mean that LIV's not going to still move on, too. "I think there's just too many unknowns for me to have a good gauge on what would happen there. Thought today was another really good Scottie Scheffler presser but particularly this answer when talking about dealing with the pressure of the career Grand Slam. "It's kind of a funny thing. It's like, yeah, if I win this tournament, that would be amazing, but I think then I show up the next week, and it's like, okay, now Scottie's won the grand slam, he's won all these golf tournaments. Now where do we go from here? So no matter what, I think as a player and as a professional athlete, you're never going to live up to the expectations of people. I think sometimes that's a little bit of the fallacy in our sport is like, if I win the U.S. Open, then I'm going to be satisfied. I've won all the tournaments, and my career is essentially over, and I've accomplished everything I could want to accomplish. But I think the goal posts are always just moved further and further. "For me, would it be a dream to win the U.S. Open? Of course. But at the end of the day, like I -- the grand slam has never been a motivating factor for me. I always just wanted to be the best version of myself, and that got me this far."

The verse, 'Be still and know that I am God' used to make me so angry. I'm like, God, what do you mean be still? Like, I got a real problem here. I'm in a storm. Why do you want me to just be still? And what I realized is that the word, and I believe it's "Rapha" in the Hebrew, it doesn’t mean just ‘don’t move.’ It means ‘release your grip.’ The idea that I thought that I had control, that was a lie anyway. If I can start to realize like, yes, the circumstances might happen that are negative or I might be in the middle of a battle right now, but if I can loosen my grip and stop white knuckling it, then I can realize that like oh—God is God, not me, and He’s going to take care of me no matter what happens. That really is the solution to anxiety. It’s not changing your circumstances or slapping meds on it.”

Rory McIlroy was asked what he liked about PGA Championship host Aronimink, and he talked both pros and cons of the course. "I like the style of golf. I like the bunkering. There's a lot of bunkers. I think it provides quite a nice bit of variety with shorter par-4s, a couple of longer par-4s. The par-3s, there's three pretty long ones and a shorter one. "I think in this day and age I'm not sure if it's going to test all aspects of your bag. There's going to be a lot of -- again, as I said, strategy off the tee is pretty nonexistent. "It's, basically, bash driver down there and then figure it out from there, which I think is a lot of these newer -- newly renovated -- I think about Oak Hill in 2023, here. When these traditional golf courses take a lot of trees out, it makes strategy not as much of a concern off the tee. "But the greens are -- as I said at the start, the greens are the main focus this week, and I think getting yourself in the right sections of the greens, making sure you leave yourself below the hole for the most part. That's the key this week. "Again, I've only played four competitive rounds here. I don't know the place that well to give you a great answer on what I like about it, but Philadelphia's a wonderful golfing city, a lot of great golf courses, and this is certainly one of them."

Rory McIlroy has never minced his words when it comes to his views on LIV Golf. He was asked about it again yesterday, and in typical Rory fashion, after saying he was “too judgemental” with players that went, he then said “if you want to be the most competitive golfer you can be, this (PGA Tour) is the place to be. And if you don't want to play here, I think that says something about you.” Speaking after a 5 under par 67 to climb inside the top 10 of the Truist Championship, Rory spoke about his thoughts on the news that the Saudi Arabian PIF was pulling funding to the league: “Yeah, look, I think everyone sort of knows my views on LIV and where it stands in the game of golf. I don't think I need to rehash any of that. It's never been for me and, look, it doesn't mean that LIV is going to go away. They're going to go and try and find alternative investment, whatever that may look like. But when one of the wealthiest sovereign wealth funds in the world thinks that you're too expensive for them, that sort of says something (laughing).” He then was asked what a possible route back for players to the PGA Tour would look like: “It's a question if they do want to come back. Obviously we have seen the quotes over the last few days. And, you know, it seems like some of the guys, if -- again, it all depends on what happens to LIV. But if it is a scenario where they have the option to come back and play on the traditional tours, you know, I think Brian Rolapp has said anything that makes this Tour stronger, anything that makes the DP World Tour stronger, I think everyone should be open to that. That's just good business practice. “So, but again I think there's going to be a lot of sort of bridges to cross to get there, just because, you know, obviously the guys over there are under contract and if they are able to keep it going and get a schedule together next year, it seems like those guys are still going to play the majority of their golf on LIV, in whatever form it takes.” That was followed up with a question about whether he was surprised that LIV Golf players have been outspoken about not wanting to return to the PGA Tour: “Yeah, which is totally fine. Like, again, I think I've said at the start, I was probably too judgmental with the guys that went because I was seeing it from my point of view and maybe not seeing it from other points of view. But again, I'm not going to judge anyone for not wanting to play on the PGA Tour. “I don't know, you know, does that mean that they go play DP World Tour maybe; if that's a pathway, that would make the DP World Tour stronger, and I would be delighted with that, because that's my home Tour, at the end of the day. “But this is, if you want to be the most competitive golfer you can be, this (PGA Tour) is the place to be. Bob MacIntyre was given a conduct warning by the rules officials today the same as Jon Rahm earlier this week. He reacted to it after the round and said he would have deserved a two shot penalty if he was given one: “Yeah, yeah, but I expect to get a few of them in my career. Yeah, I run hot. So be it… “I'm going to do it for the rest of my career. I try and toe the line, but when you feel like -- when you feel you're playing a golf course that you can hit it pretty much anywhere and there's no real punishment and then you do hit one slightly off line and you get the biggest punishment you can possibly get, it's just a sore one. Again, I'm going to react aggressively at times. Part of my DNA.” When asked if it’s tricky to understand how the rule is implemented, he said: “To be honest, I couldn't care less. If I got a two-shot penalty, it's my fault. A warning, it's my fault. I don't really worry about it.” Bob shot rounds of 67, 69, 71 and 71 to currently sit in T29 at The Open. Jon Rahm on the LIV format: “Yeah, obviously there’s been a bit of a change. There was a lot more about LIV Golf that was attractive to me, right. Yeah, maybe the format was a set back in the past, but at the same time there’s a lot of positives to it as well. And one of the things that a lot of players kept mentioning is you don’t have a wave weather difference, where you can simply get unlucky and you’re out of contention for that tournament. It’s part of the game, I get it, but it’s something you don’t have to deal with anymore. So that part is a very nice aspect. The team is what really made it for me. Being able to be part of a team, represent a team, play for my teammates, with my teammates and against my teammates, is something that to me that has always been very, very special. When you get a victory to share, it’s always better to have a team to share it with. So it’s what was the most attractive part and when we started discussions it gets to a point where even though I’m ambitious, I’m not greedy. So there’s a give and take and the format is something that I can easily overlook, and I’m pretty sure I can learn to enjoy it, I’ll just have to get used to it, but I’m pretty sure I’ll learn to enjoy it. To be honest, the more I started thinking about it, the more I started thinking about my college days that were 3 day tournaments, 54 holes, and everybody warmed up together for the most part.
