We can’t draw conclusions from the past because we have never seen something taking over brain work before and soon also basically replacing humans with robots. In other words we are getting closer to having machines do what humans do. What we had before was to have machines help humans and complement humans. Now it’s starting to replace us. There won’t be more jobs. Because any new job we create some startup will try to use AI to replace it.

I think this Jevons Paradox is not applicable to AI. Yes, I believe that gen AI will create more new jobs than there’s people, but if it will be more economical to have AI do those jobs, than I don’t know. But I am optimistic, we will find a way👍😄

How do people not understand that General Intelligence means any new jobs AI created also get done by AI? In the extreme short term AI is only good at certain things so it might temporarily create demand for human work. But wherever human work exists, AI will eventually replace.

The big difference here is that there were new jobs waiting to happen that only people could do. Some of those were physical labour, some were knowledge jobs. Both of these are becoming automatable now. There will come a point when there be nothing that a human *can* do that a machine *cannot* do *better, cheaper, more reliably*. The historical analogy breaks entirely at this point.

I'll believe the more jobs than people when it happens for now it looks HORRIBLE. I hope he's right or he's so wrong we just have ASI soon.

Jensen Huang says most jobs will be replaced, whether it's a coder or another. But I don't think so. With AI, there will be more opportunities, especially in: - AI and ML engineer - Data analysts - AI ethics positions etc This might hit: - Manufacturing roles - Data entry clerks - Basic customer service etc
