I successfully made all these arguments while suing Lyft in Colorado, which has extensive legislation to refute their claims of independent contractor status. I won unemployment benefits and a settlement. But it was stressful and took a lot of time.

agree. and lift this rule from small businessess. They bury small businessess forcing them to be 100% W2 and these massive companies are allowed to have all of them under 1099

I DON'T CARE HOW YOU PRESENT IT.........GOVERNMENT........STAY OUT OF PRIVATE BUSINESSES. WE DO NOT WANT GOV REGULATED INSURANCE. IF YOU STAYED OUT OF INSURANCE REGULATING, EVERYONE COULD EASILY BUY AFFORDABLE INSURANCE. SO, STAY OUT OF PEOPLE'S BUSINESS

Yeah, well the government gives contracts to companies oversees that call there 'employees' contractors so they don't have to pay overtime on 40-60 hours a week worked over 40. I believe the Oil Fields do the same thing.

Ahhh… they are pulling a ‘Wal-mart’, pay them just enough, so they still need welfare and medicaid. NOT providing health insurance saves billions. BTW it is wiser to be a contract worker. NO taxes pulled, everything you use or need for work is deductible, which lowers you income for insurance on the Marketplace.

ABSOLUTELY!! If people would do the research on Amazon & @JeffBezos they would find that this greedy bastard has been gaming the system from THE VERY BEGINNING!!! Amazon lobbied to avoid paying sales taxes for decades when they started and this resulted in many brick and mortar stores closing while Amazon was able to undercut their businesses. This company has horrible pay plans and treat their employees like slaves rather than valuable assets.

We had a guy kill himself by suicide off the 4th floor because it 8s a miserable company. He worked in damageland and its in a corner, darkly lit, no help, he was overwhelmed. He did it at work because he had no family and someone would find him at work. They let the days hit go but night shift still had to come in, as long as the blood was up, but there was always a stain there. LAS7 In Las Vegas

“Gaming the system” = following the loop holes congress wrote in to the laws of the land.

The reason UK high streets are in a never seen before decline. Town’s centres across the country are in ruins.

Meanwhile, in Quebec, Amazon closed all their warehouses. Even the newest multi-million building that is sitting empty. In order to discourage the unionization of their employees. Private companies have choices and empty buildings and real-estate is preferable to unionization.

Many people do Amazon flex using their own car and it operates as if your doing uber or any other gig work. You’re a contractor essentially. This is a deceptive way to advocate by showing a full time employee with the van in his photo.

The more rules you add to “get Amazon” and make them pay “their fair share” and make them do things differently because they are big, the more it shoots small businesses in the foot. Get rid of the rules so NO business must follow your labyrinthine code.

Lyft and uber are on the podium with Amazon as far as abuse, neglect, and other deceptive business practices. Just my $0.02

So, people these days don’t understand what a franchise is? The department of education needs to go.

This is true. They are delivery partners. Subcontractors one and all. But yes they do have to follow some rules just like any other contracting job.

That’s how Uber did it. They pushed all the cost &the risks onto the “technology user“ wouldn’t even call them or use label “driver”— it’s a Tech Co. In a lawsuit on the witness stand, Uber‘s owner repeatedly refused to use the word driver like Fauci used the 5th. Look it up!

Actually there are independent Amazon drivers that use those vans. In one of the Warehouses when i used to flex there was three different companies that used amazon vans
