Anyone who thinks we are living a normal life is mistaken. Our daily reality has become a struggle for survival, a challenge beyond words. We fall asleep to the sound of bombings and gunfire, and we wake up to the very same nightmare, as if fear never ends. Here we have two people in different phases of life end up working at the same place. In my years I’ve learned not to judge. We have a 32 year old man who had to work for everything he had as he climbed the ladder of life. On the other hand we have a teenager living with his parents while going to high school, with no bills and everything handed to him. Do you feel teenagers now are looked down on because they don’t know the struggle, or do you feel the older ones who did struggle are upset they weren’t given the same advantages as today’s teens?

Fatigue, illness, diseases, bad health, hunger, grief and a never-ending quest for safety, food, clean water and necessities is consuming us all day and every day. My dear friends, our lives are unliveable. It is unbearable to be living like this. We want to get out of here and live a peaceful life. Or we want a ceasefire, it doesn’t matter, as long as we live a peaceful life. The destruction of my once beautiful city, the places I used to visit, the trees, the ordinary, happy sounds of city life, the roads I used to drive and even the pavement I used to stroll on - I miss it all so dearly. The army threatens to flatten even the few structures that are still standing now. And they aren’t just threatening, they’ve already started the destruction of many buildings throughout Gaza. I will be fair - they don’t just demolish buildings to flatten Gaza, they also still bomb tents to kill as many civilians as possible. My dear friends, I’ve said it before and I keep telling you: there is no safe space in Gaza. Not for civilians. Please, help me survive this life of misery. Please help me get food, water and necessities for my family and the people in my neighbourhood. You truly are the only ones we can turn to in this hour of need.
