Labour Party Stakeholders Take Over Lagos Secretariat Following Supreme Court Verdict Find Shocking Discoveries Lagos, Nigeria – April 7, 2025 Stakeholders of the Labour Party in Lagos State have officially taken over the state secretariat following the recent Supreme Court judgement that sacked the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, along with state chairmen deemed to have been appointed without due process. The peaceful takeover of the secretariat marks a significant turning point for the party in Lagos, with stakeholders declaring a renewed commitment to transparency, unity, and accountability. However, what was expected to be a routine transition quickly took an unexpected turn, with several startling discoveries inside the office of the former State Chairperson, Pastor Dayo Ekong. During the transition process, the stakeholders made a shocking discovery, over 200 bags of rice, reportedly meant for party members and grassroots stakeholders, were found concealed in the office premises. According to some sources at the secretariat, the rice was hidden under the directive of the former Lagos State Chairperson, Pastor Dayo Ekong. A security personnel at the office, speaking under anonymity, revealed that he had been instructed on several occasions to load bags of rice into Pastor Ekong’s vehicle. This revelation raises concerns that the number of diverted bags may have been significantly higher than what was recovered. What shocked the stakeholders even more was the discovery beneath a drawer of the former chairperson’s desk: a calabash wrapped in red cloth, decorated with feathers, and containing an unknown substance. The presence of such an object raised fear, especially considering Pastor Ekong’s role as a self-proclaimed pastor. After a moment of stunned silence, some of the stakeholders mustered the courage to move the calabash outside the building and discovered some names written on white paper and attached to the fetish items. The atmosphere turned tense as fear gripped those present. Some stakeholders immediately set the calabash ablaze, while others gathered in prayer, visibly shaken by the discovery. Speaking to the press, one of the stakeholders remarked, “It is deeply disturbing that such an object would be found in the office of someone who claims to be a pastor. The presence of this raises questions, and we are choosing to confront this spiritually and legally. We won’t release the about 15-20 names found in the paper because these people are Party members and we would reach them directly and confront this head on. However we have set these items ablaze but we will confront it and know what challenges these members are facing due to this fetish.” The stakeholders also described the hoarding and alleged misappropriation of relief items as “regrettable” and assured party members that a full review of the secretariat’s operations and finances is underway. “This is a new dawn for the Labour Party in Lagos,” one of the stakeholders said. “We are committed to rebuilding trust, engaging our base, and ensuring that resources meant for party members are used appropriately.” The Supreme Court’s ruling, delivered last week, effectively nullified the leadership of Julius Abure and called for an overhaul of the party’s leadership structure. In line with this, Lagos stakeholders have announced plans to convene an all-inclusive convention aimed at restoring democratic principles and broad-based participation within the party’s ranks and the energetic teeming youth base supporters who identify themselves as Obidients. As the party navigates this transitional phase, members are optimistic that these developments will mark the beginning of a stronger, more accountable Labour Party in Lagos and beyond. And are encouraging every party member or interested members to be sure of a free and fair process henceforth.

“Former Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, claims President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed him to withdraw from the Senate race — a request he says he has reluctantly honoured despite deep personal grievances. In a lengthy statement, Ayade said he was invited to Abuja for a “high-level national consultation” with the presidency, after which he was asked to step aside from his senatorial ambition. He said he complied with the President’s directive, though not without expressing what he described as “tears of ill-treatment and agony.” Ayade lamented that despite his contributions to the All Progressives Congress (APC), he has remained without any political appointment for over three years. He cited his financial and logistical support to the party, including donations to its national convention and provision of vehicles and motorcycles for party activities. The former governor also highlighted his role in strengthening the APC in Cross River State. He noted that he was the first APC governor in the South-South and delivered a historic electoral margin for the party during the 2023 presidential election. Ayade further alleged that individuals who previously opposed the APC and accused its members of religious bias are now benefiting from the directive against him. He claimed some of these actors were involved in acts of violence during the presidential election, though he did not provide verifiable details. Reflecting on his political journey, Ayade recalled stepping down from previous contests in 2007 and 2015 at the request of party leadership — decisions he said preceded his emergence as senator and later as a two-term governor. He expressed belief that his current situation would also align with “God’s timing.” Despite his dissatisfaction, Ayade urged his supporters to remain calm and loyal to the party. He instructed them not to purchase nomination forms for the Senate race in order to avoid going against the President’s directive. 2nd slide is one of his numerous crying videos” - Portharcourthawties/IG
