Silva exploded onto the scene in 2023 as a Freshman, sporting an impressive .330/.416/.471 slash line with 11 2B, 7 HR, and 50 RBI. Was TCU's every day SS from the get-go. Named a First Team Freshman All-American and earned an invitation to Team USA's Collegiate National Team. Pro-like frame at 6'2", 200-pounds. Figures to add some impact as he continues to mature physically. Stands nearly upright in the box with a relaxed, medium-high handset. Normal load and stride, it's a smooth and rhythmic operation with a direct path to contact. Bat-to-ball skills are plus with an 88% IZ contact rate, including 89% against FB. In his first full collegiate season, he slashed .348/.453/.572 with 24 2B, 10 HR, 62 RBI, and more BB (45) than K (32). Tied the program record for most doubles in a season and was named First Team All-Big 12. Extremely simple setup in the box with a minimal stride and slight barrel tip. No wasted movement, takes a direct path to the baseball. Does an excellent job of consistently staying inside the ball. Level swing, barrel is in the hitting zone for a while. Hit over power profile, but the hit tool is a strong 60 with above average power to the pull side. Has an advanced approach along with plus bat-to-ball skills and plus feel for the barrel. Last season he worked a 92% overall IZ contact rate, including an absurd 96% IZ contact rate against FB. Converted catcher, can pick it over at 3B and continues to get better with time. One of my favorite catchers in this year’s Draft is Ryan Stafford (Cal Poly Baseball). Excellent track record on both sides of the baseball. After a Freshman All-American season in ‘22, Stafford last spring hit .313/.393/.500 with 20 2B, 7 HR, and 44 RBI. Also hit .312 in 22 games on the Cape and .345 with Team USA. Relaxed setup in the box, stands almost completely upright with a slightly open front side. Small stride with minimal movement. Very level, line drive-oriented stroke. Excellent job of keeping the barrel in the hitting zone. All fields approach with advanced barrel awareness and plus bat-to-ball skills (90% IZ contact rate). Would put a 60 on the hit tool. Really stands out defensively. Across two seasons at Cal Poly, Stafford has thrown out 22-of-50 (44%) of potential base stealers and allowed just 5 passed balls. Good athlete, moves really well laterally and does an outstanding job of corralling balls in the dirt. Strong, accurate throwing arm to all bases. Plus defender overall. Extremely levelheaded, slow heartbeat type of player. Top-100 overall upside this July.

Burst onto the scene as a true Freshman and hit .338/.451/.667 with 20 2B, 17 HRs and 74 RBIs. Schubart followed with an excellent Sophomore campaign to the tune of a .370/.513/.838 slash line with 10 2B, 23 HRs and 68 RBIs. Both his 23 HRs and 68 RBIs led the Big 12. Schubart was a Second Team All-American and earned an invitation to Team USA. Prior to departing for Cary, Schubart had a productive 9-game stint on the Cape in which he hit .300/.476/.667 with 2 2B and 3 HRs. Also showed well for Team USA. Schubart has a pro body at 6'5" and 223-lbs with strength throughout. Particular length in his lower-half. Stands tall in the box with a medium-high handset and his hands in line with his back shoulder. Small stride, drops his hands and wraps his bat a bit in his load. Swing is tailored towards getting the ball up in the air and doing damage. No shortage of bat speed. Hips really fire. Key is keeping the operation direct and connected. Not to get too hyperbolic, but the biggest key to Schubart reaching his ceiling is how much he'll hit. More specifically, how much he'll make contact. Had an overall contact rate of just 63% and an overall IZ contact rate of 71%. Between the Cape and USA it was 68% and 78%, respectively. Particularly susceptible to spin in the bottom and outer-halves of the zone, and heaters in the top-1/2 of the zone. While there are swing-and-miss concerns, Schubart's swing decisions are pretty sound and he chased at an overall clip of 21% last spring. If he can do a better job of picking up spin out of the hand—which in turn would up his contact rate—that will help him maximize his hit tool. Schubart's calling card is his thunderous raw power. His ability to cover the plate with authority is impressive, and he can hammer the baseball to all fields. It's legit HR power to all parts of the yard, the key is just making enough contact to tap into his immense power on a consistent basis in pro ball. Schubart's impact is real (to say the least) and last spring he posted a 90th-percentile EV of 111.6 and a Max EV of 115. Even in his brief stint on the Cape his Max EV was 105.6. It's 70 raw power. Defensively, Schubart has held down LF to this point but he seems destined for 1B/DH professionally. INF Kodey Shojinaga (Kansas Baseball) is an intriguing Sophomore-eligible prospect. Was outstanding as a true Freshman and hit .378/.421/.526 with 11 2B, 6 HR, and 32 RBIs. Also slashed .326/.396/.349 across 11 games on the Cape. Shojinaga was named Co-Freshman of the Year in the Big 12 and earned a Team USA invitation. Medium build at 5'10", 190-lbs with some physicality in the lower-half. Slightly open front side in the box with a normal handset. Holds bat horizontally over his back shoulder with the barrel pointed slightly back. Medium-high leg kick, but the stride itself is small. Little bit of a bat wrap, but he's consistently on time. Average bat speed. Hit over power profile right now, but Shojinaga has an advanced feel for the barrel and plus bat-to-ball skills. Last season, he sported a 93% overall IZ contact rate. Approach is sound, but sometimes chases down/away. Does a nice job of using the whole field and working inside the baseball. Would put a 55 on the pure hit tool. Sound defender at 2B with above average arm strength and makes the plays he needs to make. He has quick hands and some range in either direction. Shojinaga also has experience catching, and got some reps behind the plate this summer for Team USA. Will be interesting to see what it would look like if he focused on catching - actions need refining, but the arm strength is there. Shojinaga will need to really hit, and he's capable of doing so.
