We asked Jonathan Ross (Founder & CEO, Groq Inc) how his team spun up a live European datacenter in 34 days. The decision was made one month before a major AI event. By the time the event arrived, the site was fully operational and running large inference workloads. Groq attributes the speed to architectural simplicity. Their systems are air-cooled, avoid external memory, and skip complex switching in the core interconnect. The result is a more stable, more repeatable deployment process. “We like to stay a generation behind on the infrastructure and just compete on architecture and software,” Ross said. “Everyone else debugs in production. We don’t.” “When we ran a 4,000-chip model for the first time—it just worked.”

We don't want to have to wait for people to come to us. Because that's just less efficient. When there's $600 billion in fraud, you're not going to get tips for most of it. And if you want to solve it, this is the way you have to go."
