UPDATE ON THE MURDER OF ABDULSAMAD JAMIU This morning, 27 April 2026, representatives from HQ Nigerian Army, led by Brigadier S. O. Buhari, visited the family to offer condolences and to inspect the scene of the incident. During the visit, they stated that they were unaware the house was fenced and that the room where the shooting occurred was located downstairs. This contradicts their earlier claim suggesting the death resulted from a “stray bullet.” The delegation expressed condolences and assured the family that the officers involved would be investigated and held accountable. The family has formally demanded the retraction of the initial statement and a public apology for what they consider an insult to the memory of their son. Although there was a promise to delete the statement, the family made it clear that trust has already been undermined, especially given that some military personnel had visited the scene the yesterday before issuing the statement in question. We reiterate our demand that those responsible for the killing of Abdulsalam Jamiu be brought to justice. This was not an accident. A passionate and hopeful youth who was preparing for major championships in sports. On January 8, 2026, he suffered severe injury from a direct gunshot by the forces of the Islamic Republic regime to the eye area and was immediately rushed to the hospital. However, his condition was critical, and he fell into a coma. Here's why: Back in June this year, a Muslim family living in Gopinathpur village of Pakur district slaughtered a cow on Bakrid. The issue was that this was done in a village with over 300+ Hindu families and only one Muslim family. Hindus objected and a scuffle broke out. Over 300+ Islamists gathered and threatened the Hindus, saying, "We will chop you all up and eat it with the cow meat." The police intervened, and the situation was contained. However, the next day, a mob of over 10,000+ Muslims from Bengal entered the village, equipped with stones, sticks, and bombs. They attacked the Hindus, burned their houses, harassed women, and marked their houses, saying that after killing all of them, they will take them and would establish their "Raj" in the area. It was only after the police shot a miscreant down that they retreated back to #Bengal. Now, the village is demanding establishment of a Central Police Force Camp from the Central Government, stating that if not provided soon, all of them will be killed. Somalia’s Independence Week kicks off tonight! 🇸🇴 Somalia celebrates its independence starting from June 26, the day the northern regions gained freedom from British rule and the Somali flag was raised for the first time in Hargeisa, to July 1 when the rest of the country was liberated from Italian rule and the Somali Republic was officially born. We also celebrate on June 27 the independence of Djibouti, which we consider part of Somali territory, and we hold on to the hope that one day we will celebrate the independence of the two remaining regions of Greater Somalia on June 28 and 29. This year, Somalia celebrates 65 years since 1960. 💙 Our independence isn’t just about one day, it’s a story told over several days, and a dream that still isn’t fully realized.
