Success! 🚀 🇨🇦 At 3:45 PM EDT on Friday May 16th, 2025, we successfully tested both our new orbital Darkhorse engine test cell and our new third generation 3D printed Hadfield liquid rocket engine for the first time, marking a significant step towards Canada’s first commercial space launch. The test ran for 7 seconds at our propulsion test range, a company-owned secure site in Northeastern Ontario, successfully delivering nominal thrust, active cooling, and impulse results. This major test of the Darkhorse test cell and Hadfield Mk III engine lays the groundwork for NordSpace's Tundra orbital rocket, as the test cell is specifically designed to integrate with our turbo pump assembly in the next phase of propulsion development. Long duration tests are scheduled for the coming days, along with refinements to fuel mixture ratios and higher-pressure scenarios to test the limits of Darkhorse and our new engines. Minor upgrades and fixes to address a harmless leak in the cryogenic liquid oxygen line and design changes to our experimental control rods have already been made. Hot on the heels of our successful integrated test of our Taiga sub-orbital launch vehicle back in January, rapid developments and approvals at our spaceport in Newfoundland and Labrador, announcement of the SHARP (Supersonics and Hypersonics Applications Research Program), hosting the inaugural Canadian Space Launch Conference in Ottawa, and more - NordSpace is strengthening its position every day to ensure sovereign space launch is not just possible, but probable for Canada. Our historic first experimental flight is scheduled for 2025 from our spaceport, Spaceport Canada. You can't compare Cyberpunk 2077 launch to GTA 6 and here's exactly why Cyberpunk 2077 was the CDPR's first installment to feature a futuristic city with tons of NPCs and fast moving cars, something which was never done before on Witcher games. The gameplay video from Cyberpunk 2077 shown off in 2019 had a clear text showing "work in progress - does not represent the final look of the game" After the launch disaster of Cyberpunk 2077, Marcin Iwiński also explained that the reason the game had so many bugs is that the game was designed for PC first in mind, then scaled down to consoles that still had a hard drive (PS4 and Xbox One) an extremely difficult task on its own, combined with the fact that the game development progress took a major hit during the pandemic. Rockstar Games on the other hand has a much different engine and experience working on large scale open world game filled with tons of NPCs and fast moving cars, including the fact that they're developing this game for current gen consoles first, then scaling it up for a PC release not vice versa. Are we guys suddenly forgetting the fact that Rockstar Games managed to get GTA V running on a PS3 console which had 256mb of VRAM and 256mb of RAM at that time? The reason Rockstar Games has shown zero gameplay of GTA 6 is because historically they save the gameplay showcase before the game launches, GTA 6 Trailer 2 came out in 2025 and all footage for that Trailer was captured on a base PS5 with a mix of gameplay and cutscenes. They'll obviously show off more gameplay on August 27th, but comparing Cyberpunk 2077 to GTA 6 isn't exactly fair for both companies. On one hand, it was CDPR's first time making that kind of genre of a game and on the other hand, it isn't Rockstar Games first time making a Grand Theft Auto game.

After 8+ years on the Tesla Autopilot team and 3 years at Intel, I started Apex Compute to design a new architecture for efficient AI inference. For the past 9 months, we’ve been building our custom inference accelerator. Today we’re releasing Unified Engine v1. Last June we raised our seed round with Maxitech , DeepFin Research, Soma Capital and an incredible group of angel investors. In less than 9 months, we completed our RTL architecture and brought our first pre-silicon prototype to life on FPGA. Our architecture combines systolic array and vector processing in a single compute engine with multiple architectural optimizations, achieving very high FLOPs utilization. A single engine is super lean and it uses less than 90K LUTs and 1 MB Block RAM. It may also be one of the smallest logic-footprint compute engines developed so far. Our Unified Engine v1 supports: -matrix-matrix multiplication (~95% FLOPs utilization) -softmax (~90% FLOPs utilization) -broadcast and element-wise operations -RMSNorm / LayerNorm -block quantization/dequantization (fp4, int4) -multi-engine synchronization and many other operations. We even implemented memory-efficient attention similar to FlashAttention, reaching ~90% FLOP utilization. Full benchmarks and the software stack are available on our GitHub: We have basic compiler written in Python and it supports PyTorch tensors directly to easily test and transfer tensors between the accelerator and host using bf16, fp4 and int4 formats. Our FPGA prototype can already run LLM inference and outperform NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano, even on a mid-tier FPGA setup (6.4x lower memory bandwidth, 18% slower clock speed at 4.5 Watts). Our GitHub includes low-level operator implementations, examples for tiled matrix multiplication, operation chaining, tensor parallelism, attention kernel and a full Gemma 3 1B model implementation. Even better, our two-engine prototype runs on an entry-level AMD(Xilinx) FPGA as a PCIe accelerator card.
