Around 20% of the world’s energy passes through this region, making it crucial for India, which imports nearly 40% of its crude oil, 90% of its #LPG, and 65% of its natural gas from the Middle East. Rising global prices have pushed crude oil from around $70 to nearly $120 per barrel, while LPG prices have also surged. Despite the losses faced by oil marketing companies, the Government of India has worked to protect consumers by reducing excise duty, increasing LPG production, promoting #PNG connections, and ensuring stable gas supplies. Petrol prices in India remain around ₹94.77 per litre, compared to nearly ₹200 per litre in countries such as Germany, France, and the UK. The UPA government made a huge effort to shield the people of India from the adverse impact of rising prices by providing subsidies. However, when the Modi government came to power, crude oil prices had dropped dramatically. When global crude oil prices fell from 2014 onwards, the Modi government did not pass the benefit on to the citizens. Now that prices have increased, the government wants ordinary citizens to bear the burden. It is unfortunate that when they were buying oil at lower prices, the benefit was not passed on to the consumers. It was hoarded by the oil companies and the Government of India. William Ruto took the mic and condemned the planned renovation of the Deputy President's residence, which was estimated at KSh 900 million. After taking office, however, he spent billions on the new State House projects, which he had earlier argued were not a priority. He also condemned high fuel prices, yet today the prices are almost twice what they were then.

Only a democrat like Eric Swalwell could help jack up grocery prices through Biden’s inflation, watch families struggle, then turn around and mock the right because prices haven't come back down yet. He wasn’t saying this when prices were skyrocketing under Biden, but now he has something to say since Trump and republicans are in control. It astounds me that anyone takes these people serious.

When fuel prices drop, the NDC calls it Mahama's brilliance. When fuel prices rise, suddenly it is global market forces. So now you understand that world market prices affect local prices? Interesting. Because when cocoa prices were rising globally, you promised farmers GHS 6000 per bag. When prices dropped, you slashed farmgate prices by 28.6% and told farmers to manage. You cannot claim credit when prices favour you and blame the world when they don't. That is not economic management. That is dishonesty.
