One thing I've learned about Google is that just because you disable or opt out does not mean those choices are actually implemented. No one audits to verify user inputs and choices are applied behind the scenes. It's a false sense of control.

So a few things: Google has always scanned your email content automatically for spam malware and features like smart reply. Turning off smart features only disables conveniences like autocomplete, reminders, and summaries. Social media and your phone track more than this.

Then Google punishes you by dumping all your email in your inbox. It no longer divides it up into Promotions etc. But that's fine - I just clean up my email more often.

Assume there Is no privacy and act accordingly.

A little toggle setting is not enough to stop big tech from harvesting your data. Switch to Proton mail, it's free and has better security/privacy.

Just a head's up. They've locked auto correct for spelling and grammar behind smart features to prevent people from doing this. So if it's a buisness e-mail you will need to write it separate. But absolutely do this.

The problem w ProtonMail is that Gmail usually sends my replies to spam so the person emailing me doesn't even see I replied. Bad for business. Gmail isn't playing nice w ProtonMail. ProtonMail would work if both senders and receiver are using ProtonMail.

I did this and my inbox went from 70,000 emails to 222,872 emails. 😂😂 I refuse to read them! 😂🤦🏼‍♀️
