A happy little update on baby Miller. I am delighted to say that this dear sweet brave boy has defied all the odds and is walking perfectly normally now. He's still recovering from starvation, and eating little and often, but isn't up in the day anymore. He's down to just starting his nights before full dark (the hospital lights go out at 7pm, to make the days longer so the patients can rest, and not get any hibernation triggers). He has another week of injections for his lungworm, and 2 more ringworm baths then he's finished treatment and can start the serious business of growing. He's already onto his big boy dishes. Next week's night temperatures are forecast to drop, but if the weather reverts back to being mild and he grows well, he could even be released to hibernate naturally, in the wild, before Christmas. I was really struggling with VA to the point where I wanted to just give up. People would say a lot but not follow through. Cultist Zolon reached out to Debra for a cameo and it turned out to be so much more. We talk now through zooms and email and she has been a great mentor to me and an amazing friend. This is a long video (15 mins) but this is just a small snippet. This is for who needs to hear it 💜

Oh I'm SO happy - just look at darling Theo!😍 Not only has his gait improved so well that he's barely limping (both rear feet were degloved, but it was the left foot which was down to the bone and severely infected), last night he did something I've been hoping and praying to see - nestbuilding. Six days ago, after 5 long weeks of treatment, I gave his last injection and put him in the large rehab pen, so he could build up his muscle tone. He's been pottering around, quite happily, but I was overjoyed to see him finally start to nest build last night. This is so important and miraculous because, firstly, he feels well enough to hibernate. That's huge! Secondly, he's quite content to build a hibernaculum and hibernate here, which is a massive relief to me as it means his newly-skinned feet will have a chance to toughen up and complete healing before he's back out in the wild.

He says he doesn’t feel sluggish anymore from being overweight. He says he weighs himself every day and he has taken this very seriously since halfway through last season. Alex Palczewski and I kind of have the right-side tackle thing going over there in individual (periods). He gets after it every single day. He's so tough. And he's an intelligent football player and it's why his development has just kind of kept going and going. And obviously he's got the physical attributes to be very successful at the game of football. He's a huge guy. I think he's even got me beat in height, which is pretty rare in our league. He did it! Dear little Hobo can walk! When he was just 3 weeks old this poor baby was bitten so hard and deeply by a dog that one tooth punctured his back almost through to his stomach. This bite crushed Hobo's thigh bone so completely that it was invisible to x-ray - his leg just appeared to end at his knee. But here he is, no longer dragging that leg behind him, but actually placing it! (it's his right, rear leg) I'm beside myself with happiness! Obviously his walk is still awkward and the leg is still mending, and has a long way to go yet. But just look at this little kid - he is able to walk, to poo without falling over (and me having to clean him up), and to eat for himself, whenever he is hungry. He improves day by day. Below you can see his amazing progress over 3 days.

Before the match, I had a feeling and told paiN nqz that today they break through and qualify. They had to fight from 0-2 down in day 1 and play a revenge match again VP and now they make it through to their first ever Major play-offs! Incredible work from paiN biguzera & paiN RIKZ W. who joined the orgs in 2019 & 2021 and been on this journey together ever since. This is what the Major journey and Major dream is all about!
