I like keeping this one vulnerable and matter-of-fact. Something like this: Today was hard. I got a Starbucks coffee. Not because I “fell off the wagon.” Not because I’ve given up. Because I’m human. This season of my life has been a lot heavier than I expected. I come home to an empty apartment. I’m trying to figure out who I am after 32 years of raising kids. Some days that freedom feels peaceful. Other days it feels incredibly lonely. I’m learning how to sit with those emotions instead of eating my way through them. Am I proud that I bought the coffee? Not really. Am I proud that I’m still here, still fighting, still choosing to keep going instead of turning one hard moment into a week-long binge? Absolutely. Recovery isn’t about being perfect. It’s about getting up again tomorrow.
