The song was also recorded in Spanish as “Otro Día Más Sin Verte,” which topped Billboard's Hot Latin Tracks chart. Gloria Estefan provided backing vocals on the English version and helped translate the Spanish adaptation. “More Than a Woman” was written by Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. Recorded by the Bee Gees in 1977, the song became one of the soundtrack's most memorable romantic tracks. Unusually, the soundtrack contains two official versions of the song: the Bee Gees' own recording and a cover by Tavares, with both versions also appearing in the film. It was the Tavares version that became the commercial hit, reaching No. 32 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 7 on the UK Singles Chart. The Bee Gees' recording was not released as a single in the US or UK, although it was issued as a single in some other markets.

“Beautiful Life” was released in 1995 as a single from The Bridge and became another major international hit for Ace of Base. It reached No. 15 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart, while topping the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and Canada's RPM Dance/Urban chart. The track was written by Jonas Berggren and John Ballard. Berggren wrote the song on January 1, 1994, while he was in the Canary Islands. He later recalled that he heard the melody in his head as he was preparing to leave the islands, inspired by the beautiful sunset and his mixed feelings about going home. The success of “The Sign,” which had just reached No. 1 in the United States, also inspired him as he began writing what would become one of the first songs for Ace of Base's second album, The Bridge.

“Xanadu” was written and produced by Jeff Lynne specifically for the 1980 musical fantasy film Xanadu. Performed by Olivia Newton-John with the Electric Light Orchestra, the song was recorded at Musicland Studios in Munich, with Olivia providing the lead vocals and ELO contributing the instrumentation and backing vocals. Released in 1980, “Xanadu” became a major international hit, reaching No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart for two weeks and No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also topped the charts in several European countries and became the only UK No. 1 credited to ELO. The film's dance sequences had already been shot to an earlier demo of the song. When ELO recorded the final version, they had to match the demo's tempo so the finished recording would synchronise with the footage, giving the song its slightly unusual rhythmic feel.

“Easy Lover” has a remarkably spontaneous origin. The song was written by Philip Bailey, Phil Collins and bassist Nathan East near the end of the sessions for Bailey's 1984 solo album, Chinese Wall, which Collins was producing. East started playing a riff on the piano and within about 20 minutes the three musicians had the basic song. They recorded a rough demo that same night, still singing the temporary phrase “choosy lover.” Collins took the idea home, returned with the lyrics and the title “Easy Lover,” and the finished track came together in roughly 48 hours. Released in the United States in November 1984 and in the UK in February 1985, “Easy Lover” became a huge international hit, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spending four weeks at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart. It also reached No. 3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and No. 5 on the Mainstream Rock chart. The song was nominated for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal at the 1986 Grammy Awards.
