There's a chapter where they're unable to have sex and, as a result, they start fixing the house and living under better conditions. Once they can fuck again, the house goes to shit once more. He's not bluffing.

This is so cute but also so sad in retrospective, like hal had a beautiful wife, kids and friends but decided to throw all through the window to cook and sell meth which lead to his dead

never forget that Hal canonically admitted he'd klll himself if lois died before him

I love Hal so much, I remember there was an episode where he was sad because Lois said she didn’t believe heaven and he was sad because he thought heaven would be pointless without her

The writers of the show…

They're a mess and they can't function properly without each other. I love 'em to bits, this is what the youngsters call a hetgem

Malcolm in the middle is another perpetrator of the “dumb husband smart wife trope” which is retarded

She was even there when he had that nightmare about being a meth dealer

@simsimmaaz Bob’s Burgers too 🩷

it's amazing how hal treats love like a competition and somehow wins

My favorite scene was Hal and his Black friends playing poker, going about how often they have sex, and when it gets to Hal he says “two” all sad and dejected, until he realizes everyone else was talking about weekly and he was talking about daily

thinking about when he crashed out at a party and dropped every single one of his neighborhood friends when he found out they all hated lois

it’s so cute how prideful he is that he loves her more like omg 😭

Somehow this is both one of the worst overall relationship examples you could have used (she's a nightmare), AND one of the worst scenes you could have used from that relationship (she's a nightmare).

"If you loved me as much as I loved you, we'd never leave the bedroom"

Nah if I heard that from my wife I’d be upset like what 😭

The episode where Hal and the boys fuck up so they all run away and he calls her to tell her and immediately regrets it because of how much he'd miss her is another scene that drives this home, too.

"I lost my dad"

"Not as much as I love you" 💕

@meowingabyss This and the bit where he lists the fact that each of her toes looks like it comes from a different foot as one of the things he loves about her

''Not as much as i love you''

Malcolm in the Middle was ahead of its time.

If he loved her so much why'd he get divorced, get cancer and marry Skylar and start a drug empire? HMM?? ESPLAIN.

Also gotta throw in Bob and Pickles Oblong

He's kinda giving Jack Lemmon here

people in the replies here are no fucking fun

The crazy thing is that the characterization of Hal at this point made this not only plausible but obvious. He loved her to an absurd degree. They absolutely would get nothing done if it was equal

That's when he decided . . .

my wife and kids too

I was in high school rewatching this dialogue and it always hits so hard. The stone cold delivery in Hal’s voice it’s like a battle he lost years ago but isn’t afraid of admitting that he tried. Cranstons ability to convey acceptance it’s just🧑🍳 💋

one of the best shows ever made

I honestly don’t think heterosexual relationships work if the man doesn’t love the woman more 🤷🏾♀️
