Maharashtra’s farmers are facing huge losses as floods have destroyed 70 lakh acres of land in Marathwada. Instead of addressing climate change, farmer compensation, unemployment, bad roads, traffic and waterlogging, BJP leaders are once again pushing Hindu-Muslim divide politics ahead of the BMC elections. Mumbai BJP chief Amit Satam is threatening that if BJP loses, there will be a Muslim mayor in Mumbai. Minister Nitesh Rane is openly saying only Hindus vote for BJP and calling this Hindurashtra. This is not leadership. This is fear politics. Do not fall into this trap. Elections should be about real issues, not hate. Vote on accountability, not on propaganda.

Yet, every monsoon, we’re welcomed by knee-deep water, choked drains, and the stench of neglect. Years of complaints. Zero action. The waterlogging right outside the station remains unresolved — a recurring nightmare. When a government loves the land of a school more than the school itself — understand this clearly, that government isn’t working for you, it’s working for the builders. In the last 10 years, Mumbai has lost 114 Marathi schools, 19 Hindi schools, and 20 Urdu schools — all run by the BMC, the richest civic body in the country! Isn’t it ironic? The same city that proudly showcases the Coastal Road, Atal Setu, and underground metro can’t keep its schools alive for poor children. Behind the glitter of infrastructure lies a dark truth — the land meant for government schools is quietly being handed over to private developers. Towers now stand where kids were meant to study, and those same kids are told not to read out loud because “the rich residents are sleeping.” If this is the state of Marathi-medium education in Mumbai — imagine the fate of children in smaller towns across Maharashtra.
