Just devastating damage from a massive land slide in #RollingHillsEstates on the #PalosVerdes peninsula today. Multiple homes on Peartree Ln are completely destroyed and at least 12 are evacuated. You can see homes dropped 10-15 feet below street level in places. KCAL NEWS #cawx

@kcalnews Although PV is known for its landslides, this one is shocking because it's not near the coast. No one expected this kind of land movement in Rolling Hills Estates. I am glad the residents are safe, but I am sorry for the loss of their homes.

@kcalnews there’s a pretty big drainage valley there that goes west to the ocean. maybe the heavy rain season weakened the ground levels under this?

@kcalnews Poor rich people

@kathid_d @kcalnews It’s called “Rolling Hills”. Kinda like complaining about floods in a place called “High River”.

@kcalnews I wonder what was originally on this property back in the 1970's. How would someone find out. Was it just mother earth, was it a dump? I'd like to know the history of this land.

@kcalnews Learned about this in the late 90s in an anthropology class. Instuctor called it.

@kcalnews Three weeks ago 30,000 gallons of raw sewage was flowing in that area. Wonder what we don’t know was going on before it was discovered. Oh yeah, earthquake rattled this area last week. And human remains found during sewage investigations.
