Just fixed a PS4 and found this random white plastic piece from the disk drive rattling around inside. No idea how it got there or how it came loose... does this happen often? 🤔🔍

Yeah slot loading drives would have the random pieces kicked around from drops, kids putting stuff into the disc drive or a disc being ripped back out at the last minute from being pulled back in. Usually would be an easy fix at least, Wii and PS3 were most common.

My PS4 doesn't grip discs very well, maybe that's why.

Thats from people pushing the disc in rather than allowing the mechanism to take it itself. Usually done by children or when the rollers have lost their grip so people take to "assisting" it.

That piece of plastic is meant to join the two rollers at the opening of the drive, that rotate to take the disc in.

Hmm, this has me interested. When I play something with higher end graphics my ps4 winds up like a jet turbine and is loud af. Wonder if there's parts floating around in it.
