his reasoning makes sense and has some truth behind it, but he's coming to the wrong conclusions. like, yeah kids do care way less about games like zelda and FF. a lot of kids do just play minecraft, fortnite, roblox and nothing else. that doesn't make them niche though.

I think he’s adjacent to being correct. Kids these days don’t have the attachment that the last generation had to Zelda. They didn’t grow up talking about Zelda at school or go home and watch YouTubers play it. They’re much more likely to have done that with GTA V

Just as an example GTA V alone sold more copies than the entire Zelda franchise AND the entire FF franchise. not just more than the most recent games, more than the entire history of the franchise. i like zelda and FF more than gta, but at the end of the day they legit don’t compare lol. if you ask a random american mom about zelda she might know, ask about final fantasy she’d probably have no clue, but ask about GTA and she’d have a million things to say. GTA is so huge that it transcends the gaming space.

Zelda is bigger than GTA and it can sell consoles for generations. The success of GTA 5 happened during a time when both Xbox/PS were both successful. Both brands and consoles are worthless today.
