Just getting my proposal in early for the replacement of Euston station’s screens… (Obv this is part of my totally-flawless dream masterplan for Euston returning to “as opened” light & bright 1968 condition before shops & mezzanine were added: see end of video)

To be quite clear, this (my latest brainfart) proposes digital animations of Solari-esque style boards on the massive screens, some massive speakers and an amp that goes up to 11. As well as the removal of most interior shops and cafes but the addition of an animatronic Queen Elizabeth which trundles out on wheels to meet every train from Glasgow, giving a smile and welcome to the Good People of North Britain to this marvel of the modern jet age.

Better yet, get network rail to start dredging the Lea please.

There was something about the clacking of a Solari board that signified the start of a journey/adventure.

Maybe not at Euston but if Solari is your thing ( and who can’t love the noise of a Solari board ) and you’d love to see a possible return, watch this space 😉

October 2019, Frankfurt Airport has one so why can’t Euston 😂

I used to enjoy the clicks of NSE clocks, particularly at 09:59:59, or 19:59:59, or 23:59:59.

As a kid I loved to watch those boards scrolling round as they changed, trying to spot what weird and off normal route destinations would flik past. Didn’t need to watch them religiously for your train, you just looked when you heard them updating

Tim the departure screens should have never been moved updated them yes. I hoping that the go ahead to restart the work at Euston will be giving in the budget along with the tunnel to Euston.
