just give me OKLCH dude i'm so over it. we've been using this same HSV/HSL wheel cope for 40 fucking years. these pathetic hue/sat sliders don't preserve perceptual luminosity and i'm sick of pretending like it isn't terrible.

Hello, as someone interested in the oklch color wheel, I just have to ask a question. I’ve seen various color wheels on internet, but this is the first time I’ve seen one that works like this. Could you tell me what plugin this is?

it's a test app i am playing with based on the tourbox's dynamic color picker. not super useful in its current state since CSP doesn't have good plugin support. it has to copy hex codes and run a series of inputs to paste into CSP's color picker.

No matter how much I searched, I couldn't find it, so I figured it must be a custom program—but I'm surprised! I actually made a program for CSP myself! It serves a similar purpose to mine, but it works with a completely different UI.

The UI is different, but maybe the method I used will be helpful! I’d love to try out the program you made, too. Although there is a way to import hex values using AutoHotkey.

A color generator app I'm currently working on supports both oklch and lch

ngl this feels like a final boss of a 4d chess edition of art. (would love to get my hands on one in csp tho)

i don't conceptually love "perceptually accurate" color wheels because I feel like making that decision should be a part of an artist's eye rather than a statistically acquired determination

to me it's more about my intent and I would prefer my color picking tool not fight me so much. there is merit in using obtuse tools that require additional effort to tune, but digital art is filled with assisted color decision making already so idk if it's that big of a leap

what difference does it make in coloring? like does it add more options for colors im a little confused on how this is better

changing H/S in HSL will lighten or darken a color. if you take green, and hue shift it towards blue, it will be perceptually darker bc that's how we perceive blueness. this means artists have to constantly fiddle with the color to adjust for luminosity changes. OKCLh fixes that.

ooooo sweet

this is so gorgeous, where could I get my hands on it??

how the fuck do you implement oklch currently though 😭😭 u can’t really expect most developers to implement something completely new j because it’s a bit better

tourbox already did i can't imagine it's that unreasonable

This would be so nice to have in csp

is there a way to put this in krita

not really, right now its just a little standalone thing. i think there might be OKLCh plugins for krita tho?

real shit

insanely cool, any plans for a Krita plugin?

oh my god like a week ago i was also searching if there was some kind of plugin for csp that allowed oklch and found out it just isnt a thing In General i felt like a color theory snob

im thankful to tourbox for the luma-based palette (OKLCH)

I'm honestly surprised Krita hasn't gotten to implementing it yet. It's ahead of other programs with its handling of colour in many other areas so this just feels like a glaring omission.
