🚨JUST IN: Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected calls for a ceasefire, saying entering into such an agreement with Hamas would be a 'surrender to barbarism.' MY THOUGHTS: I agree, a ceasefire will benefit Hamas and may make it harder for Israel to eliminate the group. However, I don't...

They have fire bombed Gaza for three weeks straight and still haven’t touched Hamas. It’s beyond Israel’s capability to do so The “camps” won’t be put in the Sinai, so they’d have to be in Ashkelon or tel Aviv. So it ruins the ethnic cleansing plans. This is the end of Netanyahu.

Their goal isn’t to ‘eliminate Hamas.’ It’s to eliminate all Palestinians which is evident from their current activities in Gaza!

The Plan is ethnic cleansing mario. It’s not Hamas or otherwise. It’s just a repeat of the Nakba. No one should ever give the Israelis an inch of maneuvering room, because they will abuse it to push their ethnic cleansing and genocidal agenda. SANCTIONS are what they deserve.

Lots of demands for Israel to do this and that. But why isn’t the same demanded of Hamas?

If Hamas doesn’t exists another organisation will grow from the radicalisation caused by Israel’s treatment of the civilians. We saw the same with isis, it will just have another name, Israel is escalating the cycle of violence

Hamas would only call for a cease fire if they are losing and need to regroup

I can respect your opinions. However, there has been more than enough time to get south of the Gaza River and anyone staying has sided or been strong armed with/by Hamas. We can all agree Hamas chose this War and the loss of innocent life is absolutely heartbreaking. Anyone who enjoys the suffering of innocence is really twisted! I know it's too far of a stretch but it would be a miracle if the Gazans turned against Hamas and either eliminated them or gave Intel where every last one is as well as the hostages. I do believe time is ticking away for both the Hostages and the Gazans on a humanitarian level and this is why Israel can not let up. A ceasefire would only extend the suffering of the innocent while giving Hamas a chance to refresh and strategize. War is literally hell no doubt..... even if everything ended tomorrow with the best outcomes there is still going to be suffering that lasts a generation or two and it's horrible. We just need to remember who started this and that this is exactly what they were expecting when carrying out the slaughter and kidnappings October 7th. This is a date humanity wishes would have never happened. ✌️

Hamas certainly needs to be stopped, given their apparent disregard for the well-being of Palestinian civilians. However, it is also crucial to establish a ceasefire, as too many innocent lives have been lost.

This is war we didn’t ask for nor look for. But nonetheless we must finish it.

Ceasefire now, people say. But what does that actually mean? So ceasefire is what we've had on October 6th and what we all want, obviously. But President Biden said it best. Ceasefire and a hostage deal, he said, is at the hands of Hamas. President Biden said that Israel put down a rational offer because Israel is a rational country. The problem is that Hamas is not a rational actor. It is a genocidal Jihadi terrorist organization that doesn't care about the lives of Palestinians. And people in the West have been yelling ceasefire now at the wrong side of this war. Hamas has rejected countless ceasefires. Hamas and Iran are not trying to build a better life for the Palestinian people. You have to understand what Hamas and Iran are doing right now is they're actively trying to inflame the entire Middle East right before the holy month of Ramadan, which as President Biden said is going to be very, very dangerous. And this is exactly what they are after. There is currently a multi-front war going on in Israel in which Israel is being attacked by Jihadi terrorists from all sides, all prompted, pushed, and sponsored by Iran. Hamas, according to what was published, said that they have Israel exactly where they want her. That means the international pressure is on Israel to stop the war so that Hamas can remain in power in Gaza. So if you're calling at Israel to ceasefire, you're doing the bidding of Hamas. Hamas does not want to ceasefire. They're going to do whatever it takes in order to maintain power, including hiding in the elaborated tunnel system that they build instead of building a Palestinian state and remain in power at the cost of Israeli children and Palestinian children. It's time to dehamasify Gaza. And next time you demand a ceasefire, just make sure you aim it at the right direction. As President Biden said, this is at the hands of Hamas.

Thoughts On The Ceasefire News Israel continued to hammer Gaza with military explosives on Thursday despite the announcement of the first stages of a ceasefire agreement with Hamas. Israel always does this. When normal people get a ceasefire agreement they think “Good, this means we can finally stop fighting and killing.” Whenever Israelis get a ceasefire agreement they go, “This means we have to hurry up and kill as many people as possible before it takes effect.” But it does appear that the killing and abuse will at least diminish for a time, which is an objectively good thing no matter how you slice it. The first stages of the agreement reportedly entail a partial withdrawal of IDF troops, Israel’s starvation blockade officially ending, humanitarian aid being allowed into the enclave, and both Israel and Hamas releasing captives and stopping the fighting. Drop Site News reports that according to Hamas sources, subsequent ceasefire phases will entail “No surrender, no disarming, no mass exile, but most of all a permanent end to the war.” It remains to be seen if there will be any movement toward a lasting ceasefire beyond the first stage. When an agreement was reached late last year it never made it beyond the first phase and then the Trumpanyahu administration declared a siege and resumed the killing. The far right members of the Netanyahu regime certainly seem like they don’t expect the ceasefire to hold. Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said in a statement that Israel has a “tremendous responsibility to ensure that this is not, God forbid, a deal of ‘hostages in exchange for stopping the war,’ as Hamas thinks and boasts,” and that “immediately after the hostages return home, the State of Israel will continue to strive with all its might for the true eradication of Hamas and the genuine disarmament of Gaza.” Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir issued similar remarks, saying that he and his Jewish Power party will use their leverage to dismantle the Netanyahu government if it “allows the continued existence of Hamas rule in Gaza.” Netanyahu himself has been studiously avoiding any talk of commitment to a lasting ceasefire, mostly limiting his public statements to the significance of freeing Israeli hostages. So there’s not a whole lot to feel optimistic about here. If the killing does stop on a lasting basis, it will be a pleasant surprise. If it does, we can only surmise that the US and Israel calculated that the worldwide PR crisis created by the genocide was getting too severe to sustain, which would be a win for all of us. Trump has gone on record to say that “Bibi took it very far and Israel lost a lot of support in the world. Now I am gonna get all that support back.” Either that, or they calculated that they’re going to need all their firepower for a planned war with Iran. Which would of course be terrible for everyone. We shall see. For now at least it will be nice for everyone to have a breather. If things really do calm down I’m going to do something I’ve never done in my entire writing career and try to take a full weekend off work to decompress. Focusing on a live-streamed genocide for two years takes a toll on the mind and body. Here’s hoping for a better future. Reading by Tim Foley:
