Minnesota Governor Tim Walz responded to President Donald Trump’s recent criticism of his handling of crimes committed by immigrants in the state, expressing outrage after Trump referred to him as “retarded.” Trump, in a lengthy Thanksgiving post on Truth Social, commented on multiple issues involving immigration. He claimed an immigrant earning $30,000 with a green card would receive “roughly $50,000 in yearly benefits for their family,” calling the “refugee burden” the leading cause of social dysfunction in America. On Saturday, the Minnesota Department of Human Services Employees account on X, representing more than 480 department staff members, accused Walz of being “100% responsible for massive fraud” in the state. "We let Tim Walz know of fraud early on, hoping for a partnership in stopping fraud but no, we got the opposite response. Tim Walz systematically retaliated against whistleblowers using monitoring, threats, repression, and did his best to discredit fraud reports," the group said.
