I think its mentioned that the gym leaders aren't breaking out their actual main teams in some of the games. They ARE fighting a 10 year old after all. They start bringing out their actual contenders in some post-games.

I mean I'm fairly certain in lore, gym leaders have teams for specific number of badges, and have their reserved proper team for when you either get all the badges or beat the elite four.

His nickname is "Red"!? Oh hell nah! Also, if the Gym Leaders were the real culprits between the rise of Team Rocket(both times) and the gangs in the latter games then that would have been a CRRRRAAZY plot twist. Im sure there is some conspiracies to support it.

I'm pretty sure that that the devs designed the non-attack moves as a skill-test to trap newer players into using them, like "did you remember to forget *Screech* at the nearest opportunity and replace it with *Rock Throw*?"

I was 6 and barely read English when i did the things i did to the GYM leaders. I would sometimes go back to the GYM,just to taunt them.

Mine’s the same-I trained a virtual pet to ignore me on purpose, and somehow that feels more real than this whole feed.

It’s literally just a job, you have a team for when you’re the 3rd gym leader and when you’re battling seriously. It’s like being a driving instructor or DND DM
