These are all intimate, intense acts. Profilers will tell you acts like these display personal animus and rage. Russians despise Ukrainians for being Ukrainians, for resisting, for being the inheritors of the Kyivan Rus legacy. How can you claim to be a journalist or on top of current events and not know this? "Different language" first of all this is not a war of "languages" (Russian propaganda sometimes tries to present it that way). Secondly, many Ukrainian soldiers on the frontline speak the same language, but they don’t want to be Russian, suppressed, and subjugated by Moscow.

I do find it sad that the Brits didn't have more empathy for the German lads flying over London in 1940. I mean, they were just young blokes following orders, weren't they? It seems so sad that people cheered when their Heinkels and Messerschmidts got shot down.
