It is pretty disheartening when a con clears out an area, all the colorful people are replaced by grey, dull, "normal" looking people.

I didn't attend this convention, but this feeling is an important one to understand. The feeling of acknowledging that the only constant in the universe is the temporary nature of things. It reminds one that the eternal past is not truly any different from the eternal future.
