Mondo is the most adorable companion robot. It’s safe around kids, can track and follow a person, and capture high-resolution action videos. Mondo is also doing frontier research in humanoid Video-Action models built on a world model backbone: I have no doubt we’ll be hearing this name a lot in consumer robotics. Japanese Experts: China’s Robotics Capabilities Are Highly Advanced; Japan Unlikely to Catch Up Soon On July 23, the Nikkei xTECH website released a video showing Japanese technicians dismantling the G1 humanoid robot made by the Chinese company Unitree Robotics, in an effort to examine its internal structure and technological sophistication. Throughout the process, the Japanese technicians and reporters marveled at the high level of technology embodied in the Chinese humanoid robot. They ultimately concluded that Chinese robotics development has clearly moved beyond the stage of mere demonstrations; regarding humanoid robotics, it is "likely unrealistic" for Japan to narrow the gap with China in the near term. Japan was once a global pioneer in the robotics industry, holding a dominant position—particularly in industrial robotics. Today, however, China has achieved a world-leading status in the field of humanoid robotics, driven by mature, refined manufacturing processes and technological innovation.

At Advancing AI 2026, AMD went after the humanoid "robot brain," directly challenging NVIDIA's Jetson Thor at the edge. Its new Kria AI Robotics Developer Platform is an open, turnkey system putting CPU, GPU, NPU and FPGA on one board. The X100 chip is the robot's "brain," while dedicated FPGAs control the joints, motion, and sensors in real time, something AMD has long done well. $Most robotics teams can make a robot move… very few can make it work every day in the real world! @roboforce_inc was just featured in Jensen Huang’s GTC keynote, not for a demo but for a robot they claim is already working in the field. Their system, TITAN, is built for industrial environments: ✅ 40 kg dual-arm payload ✅ millimeter-level precision ✅ 8 hours runtime ✅ early pilots in energy, logistics, and manufacturing They call it Physical AI: The focus is on getting robots to do the kind of labor that still depends on people: repetitive, risky, and physical. IMO, what stands out isn’t the specs. It’s the claim of 11,000 robot orders❗️ If even a fraction of that turns into real deployments, it would make RoboForce one of the most widely scaled robot platforms in the world!!?? The open question is whether this shift from prototype to production is real or just the next phase of robotics storytelling. It looks very promising to me. Skild has been quiet since emerging from stealth in July 2024. They just shared their journey so far, showcasing early milestones. Skild is building toward a single general-purpose, “omni-bodied” robotics foundation model: One Brain – any task, any robot. The Skild Brain can control humanoids, quadrupeds, or manipulators using a unified architecture trained on large-scale action datasets, including internet videos, simulation, and real-world data. Founded by CMU professors in 2023, the company has a strong group of researchers and engineers who have made some of the most seminal contributions to robotics research in the past decade. Now, they’re set to take it from the lab to the real world.

Not the flashiest demos, but what’s under the hood represents a foundational shift for general-purpose robotics. World models are the next-gen foundation of Physical AI, not the VLM backbones found in typical VLAs. DreamZero is a 14B-parameter World Action Model (WAM) by NVIDIA that treats robotics as a joint video-and-action prediction task. Unlike traditional Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models that map images directly to motor commands, DreamZero leverages a pretrained video diffusion backbone to predict future world states and actions simultaneously. - achieves 2× better zero-shot generalization to unseen tasks and environments compared to state-of-the-art VLAs. - learns effectively from heterogeneous, non-repetitive data (500 hours), breaking the need for thousands of repeated demonstrations. - adapts to new robot embodiments with just 30 minutes of play data. - enables 7Hz closed-loop control via system optimizations and "DreamZero-Flash," making high-capacity diffusion models viable for real-time use.

Introducing WorldForge: testable world-model workflows for physical AI systems. You can think of it, loosely, as “LangChain for world models”. The problem is that “world model” has become an overloaded label. Depending on context, it can mean a video generator, a cost model, a robot policy, a JEPA-style latent predictor, etc. They share almost nothing, different inputs, runtimes, failure modes. I built WorldForge to stop pretending they're interchangeable. Front-door demo: a real Hugging Face LeRobot (LeRobot) diffusion_pusht policy combined with LeWorldModel by Lucas Maes checkpoint for scoring. Both run locally on my MacBook in the demo video. LeWM is extremely efficient (~15M params), can plan up to 48× faster, and runs on commodity hardware. WorldForge wires the loop: policy → candidates → score → select Replay happens in a local TUI today, but the same loop could drive a real robot in the world. Would love feedback from people working on world models, physical AI, robotics, ML infra, and adjacent tooling. Fully open source. Contributions very welcome. Plan in the dream, replay in real world.

Another win for open-source robotics! 🔥 Hugging Face just released a fully open-source humanoid robot, and you can build one for $2,500. I'm a huge advocate of open-source in robotics space. Why? Robotics is too hard to solve alone. So lowering the entry point is crucial. Also, ROS proved open ecosystems create lasting industry standards. So let's have a look at the new member of humanoids family! LeRobot Humanoid is a 3D-printed, bipedal humanoid platform designed for real robot learning experiments.
