Reading with your baby isn’t always as simple as it might seem. Earlier this week, a parent asked how I’d advise reading to a toddler who may not have the attention span for a full book and who, when handling them, often tears the pages. I’m so glad you asked! This fantastic video, shared to TT a couple years back by hanzcakess, illustrates both the realities of - and several important lessons for - parents and caregivers when it comes to reading with infants and toddlers. First, when reading with very young children it’s important to begin with realistic expectations. At this little guy’s age (which I’m going to guess is around a year, give or take 2 months) babies‘ attention spans are VERY limited. Think 1-2 minutes tops. What does that mean for you? First it means that you’re unlikely to make it through an entire book. And that’s just fine. Rest assured that there’s still great value in the activity. Further, don’t be surprised if your child is more interested in interacting with (or at the earliest stages, even chewing on) the book itself rather than attending to the story it contains. That’s ok too. For both reasons, beginning with sturdy, laminated board books is well advised. Not only do these tend to be super short (with most intended to accommodate for babies’ brief attention spans), but they’re made to withstand the rigors of handling by infants and toddlers. Now, some might look at this video and (on first glance, at least) see primarily inattention. But not me! Here’s what I see: First, I see a completely normal toddler who’s already putting some really impressive book knowledge on display. Notice he’s advancing front to back and left to right as he turns pages sequentially. They’ve done this often. Also want to shout out what a truly fantastic job Dad is doing here. Notice that he’s totally letting his son dictate the terms the activity. He’s not insistent on completing the text, but goes with the flow as his son turns the pages. As the pages turn he’s helping to illustrate that the print on each one contains a unique message. And he’s singing the text! Brown Bear is a great book for this and many board books lend themselves particularly well here. Your baby isn’t judging your singing voice. Kudos on making the experience engaging. In light of all the above, don’t be afraid to stray from the text altogether as needed and use this time to simply engage in conversation about the pictures and introduce some new vocabulary. Finally, while lap reading is fantastic, at this age you may also find benefit in reading face to face, allowing your child to tune into your expressions alongside the book. Remember, there’s nothing your baby loves seeing more than you. Rest assured this stage doesn’t last forever. You’ll be snuggling up for longer sessions in no time. And while we’re on the topic of reading, I want to give a special shout out to my friends at Reach Out and Read, which is a fantastic program you may know from distributing books and sharing advice like this via your pediatrician’s office. I am in the church of American consumerism. The fact that I'm telling you this probably tells you what store I'm in. It isn’t a Tesla store. Think bigger. Way bigger. That you have to show your club card to get in. Just like if I say, "What kind of shoes was Tiger Woods wearing?" you probably would get that right too. What other brands have such a strong memory in everybody's head? I remember my boss taking me to Price Club back in the 1980s. Which is what Costco used to be called. “Don’t tell anyone about this place. It will put us out of business.” The family store I used to work at is gone. If you talk to a Tesla fan all you need to say is “triangle” and we know exactly which vehicle you are talking about. At the Tesla Oasis, which is in the middle of nowhere in California north of Los Angeles, the solar panels are at the same angle. Why I notice these things? I have hung out with brand designers and storytellers at the highest level. Oakley treats its designers as better than everyone else. It has special equipment that deposits a layer a few atoms thick as glass and plastic. That is how it gets to reflect light in such a colorful way. If you see them you know they are Oakleys. Can’t wait for a pair to come out from some tech company that basically say to everyone “yes I am wearing a camera.” Whoever turns that negative into a club will have a huge moat. Like Harley Davidson turned its negative image into a brand that the Governor of Texas once talked to my partner about for more than an hour both with very fond tones. My friend says Cybertruck is a failure. I say that will be a very popular vehicle on Robotaxi. Just watch. Once you are inside for a ride you will understand. As for the glasses, Zuckerberg had plans long ago to have us play games with our friends in the street. That kind of club.

I feel like there is some kind of stagnation in my soul. I don't feel hopeless or tired, but suddenly everything became less interesting. I have to do something to wake up my soul so I can go back to how I was. I am the one who insisted on living, even if life was only room for my feet. I wonder what happened to me. I have become just a mass of flesh without a soul. I lost my passion and love for life.. My dear friends and loved ones .. This is your friend Mo from Gaza and this is an update The military operation is still continuing in northern Gaza... and there are more evacuation orders for the north and more displacement. I heard from one of the merchants that he has some cat food in Jabalia... but the area is dangerous there... Approximately he has 15 to 20 boxes Each box contains 24 cans Despite that, I said let's try to go, but we have to be careful... I went with my cousin Animal world We went to the furthest place we could reach. The picture below shows us at the Qurm Junction, and anyone who is in Gaza knows that it is the entrance to Jabalia... Unfortunately, we did not dare to approach any closer than that... We heard the sounds of explosions and saw plumes of smoke and the sounds of gunfire. Drones were flying densely over our heads. So we backed down and decided to go again today.. but the weather is very, very rainy today.. We will go again on Wednesday.. I wish we had access to cat food. It is more beneficial for them.. Tesla Model YL impressed the heck out of me! I’ve seen all the reviews and noticed many of the same things, so I won’t repeat what others have said, but I want to highlight stuff I haven’t seen many/any people talk about! TL;DR: passenger space is plentiful and not an issue, best model Tesla sells. Game changer for families. Passenger space/comfort I am 6’2 and can comfortably fit in all 3 rows even when adjusting them all to fit me-sized humans! Leg room is 100% not an issue. The only catch is 3rd row headroom. In a proper seating position, my head hit the glass. However, another guy who was 6’0 sat back there and was totally fine, so torso length matters! Even for me, a lil slouch or scooting my butt forward and it was totally fine. 6 adults can easily and comfortably fit in YL for sure. The thigh supports in the front row do absolutely nothing for anyone taller than probably 5’8. Very underwhelming. The captain’s chairs recline REALLY far, almost laying down, combined with the heated AND air conditioned seats and the first two rows are positively luxurious. Arm rests are also great and very sturdy. They come up high enough to still be comfy even for a tall guy like me. Tons of rear vents, air flow was really good and consistent throughout. Trunk space The sub-trunk cover magnetically attaching to the 3rd row seat-back is a great way to claw back some of the lost space when the 3rd row is up. Makes it very usable. Also, people have criticized the bump when the 3rd row is down, but there’s a pair of little folding arms (4th pic) that pops up and makes it totally flat. Great design! Head rests They are adjustable up and down via a mechanical button that you press and hold and just lift/lower the headrest by hand. (3rd video) Pretty decent amount of travel, and a huge improvement! These are on the 1st row AND the captain’s chairs! Camping I had a quick chance to fold all the seats down and climb in on my belly and close the trunk, and this is a huge improvement over the normal Y. I had TONS of room, my toes weren’t touching the trunk and my head wasn’t touching the front seat, not even close! And that was without moving the front seats at all! I sleep in our 2023 Y all the time and it’s great, but it’s only barely enough room and only with the front seats allllll the way forward. Also, the 4 extra vents in the rear cabin will be huge for air flow, which is somewhat of a problem in other Ys. Zen Grey Interior I’m a big proponent of Tesla’s white interior, and I like the Zen Grey! Definitely not stark white, but it’s still very light and looks phenomenal. Doesn’t look dingy at all. If you’re a white interior enthusiast like me, you’ll love Zen Grey too. General observations The showroom was PACKED with people and everyone was there for YL! I talked to a lot of people and let me tell you, families are super excited about YL! It was fun to watch everyone’s reaction as they climbed in the 3rd row and were shocked how usable it is.

After Penaldo (+Tevez) left and were replaced inadequately, Utd got a bit worse. Yet they still won more leagues, and got to another CL final shortly after. Real Madrid kept churning big titles no problem. After Henry left, Arsenal went 20+ years without sniffing the same heights. I felt my heart beating hard and my head spinning like I could have thrown up but there was nothing in my stomach besides liquid—no food all day besides a croissant at 2PM. I had downed some random person's red wine glass at the last bar. I worried it might have been spiked. Wow. WOW. WOOOOOOOW. So um, that first Wildcard+Thousands stream was... *amazing* and also... a *lot* 😅 In the end, it was *exactly* what we were hoping for - a true stress test of ALL these systems coming together for the first time. We are SO grateful for the thousands of people who showed up today to play, attend, tune-in and help us PLAYTEST all this new stuff. We can't wait to see you all again at NEXT WEEK'S EX2 EVENT! So, now let's talk about how it went... Stuff that worked: - Our community SHOWED UP. Oh boy did you show up 😅. Our servers were straining under the load... which is good actually, in fact it's the whole point. Even more importantly, we have already received insanely valuable feedback, bug reports, stuff people loved/hated - and it's only been a few hours since the stream ended. I can't even explain to y'all how valuable this process is. Yes it's stressful, it reminds me of trying to keep Words With Friends online during that first insane year, but it's EXACTLY what we were hoping for (NEED) to turn this into the polished, top-notch game and streaming experience we are on a mission to deliver. I truly can't thank y'all enough, and hope to see you again when we run it all back again next week 🥹 - The stream itself stayed up and was mostly stable! Phew 😅. For context, ThousandsTV is not a twitch wrapper, it's a web3-native streaming tech stack built we built specifically to connect game, web/mobile, and blockchain together all at the same time. There are a LOT of moving pieces going on behind the scenes. - We brought viewers INTO THE GAME! Viewers showed up in the stands of the arena, with connected wallets/assets, triggered actions/rallies from chat, and were seen and heard during the whole stream. - The brand new 2v2 build of Wildcard was (mostly) stable and our players and viewers seemed to be having a blast down on the field and up in the stands. It was thrilling to watch Team Blue dominate, even though Team Red held their own in game 3! - Our production crew did an insanely good job running the stream, managing the players, shoutcasters, and talent, and producing a top-notch show. Of course we will work hard to make every stream better than the last, but I was super proud of how our team "rolled with the punches" during today's event. Stuff that didn't work (and/or needs to be dramatically improved): - Although it's fun to see chat going crazy, chat spam is actually something we are passionate to FIX. As you can see from the attached video, chat spam dominated today's stream and made it impossible for anyone to even see anyone else's messages. We have some GREAT ideas for how to fix this and actually turn chat spam into a FUN and exciting and not annoying thing - but those improvements didn't get shipped in time for this event. - Credits purchasing flow needs a LOT of work. As I'm sure y'all know, bringing money on chain is pretty complicated, and although we've been working hard to make this as seamless as possible, it still needs a TON of improvements. Many users who WANTED to spend money today weren't able to and/or ran into frustrating bugs in the credit purchase flow. Fixing this is obviously a top priority for our team. - Rallies need a LOT of work. Spectator-interactive features like rallies are at the heart of our vision for Wildcard. These "stream apps", as we call them, are the UNLOCK for how spectators, viewers and fans directly connect and interact with their favorite competitors, content creators, and communities. The current rally feature HINTS at this potential, but it needs to be WAY easier to understand, use, and have fun with. Improvements are ON THE WAY. - Referees were only partially working. Referees are a key innovation of the Thousands platform. They are AI-driven "personalities" (NPCs) that pay attention to everything that's happening in the arena, both on the field and especially in the stands (i.e. in chat, during rallies, etc.) The referees then make "calls" at the end of every match, rewarding users for their engagement and participation. Unfortunately, the referees weren't fully functional and seemed to drop the ball on recognizing everyone's contributions (especially people who showed up holding valuable assets such as Wildpasses in their wallets, and people who boosted those rallies with credits.) What's happening next: 1. We are combing through ALL the logs from the event right now, to make sure we don't miss a SINGLE action that our viewers and fans took during the event, including what they brought in their wallets (i.e. Wildpass holders!), any credits that were purchased, rallies that users engaged with, etc. This information is normally processed by our referees, who then determine dynamically how they're going to distribute $WC awards. We were originally hoping to complete this process and the subsequent airdrops within a few hours after the event, but given the amount of data, we need a bit more time to run these scripts (and airdrops) in batches instead of all at once, and make sure ALL of the data is being included. IMPORTANT: I will keep y'all updated in real-time here on twitter/X as this process is ongoing, and let you know the moment it's complete and all the awards have been distributed (i.e. when to go check your wallets 😎) 2. PLEASE keep sending us your feedback and bug reports. Open a ticket on our Discord and let us know what you loved, what you hated, and especially what we need to FIX. Given the overwhelming response to this event, it will likely take us several days to process everyone's feedback and fix all the bugs, but we WILL NOT REST until every ticket is closed/resolved. Wow. WOW. WOOOOOOOW. So um, that first Wildcard+Thousands stream was... *amazing* and also... a *lot* 😅 In the end, it was *exactly* what we were hoping for - a true stress test of ALL these systems coming together for the first time. We are SO grateful for the thousands of people who showed up today to play, attend, tune-in and help us PLAYTEST all this new stuff. We can't wait to see you all again at NEXT WEEK'S EX2 EVENT! So, now let's talk about how it went... Stuff that worked: - Our community SHOWED UP. Oh boy did you show up 😅. Our servers were straining under the load... which is good actually, in fact it's the whole point. Even more importantly, we have already received insanely valuable feedback, bug reports, stuff people loved/hated - and it's only been a few hours since the stream ended. I can't even explain to y'all how valuable this process is. Yes it's stressful, it reminds me of trying to keep Words With Friends online during that first insane year, but it's EXACTLY what we were hoping for (NEED) to turn this into the polished, top-notch game and streaming experience we are on a mission to deliver. I truly can't thank y'all enough, and hope to see you again when we run it all back again next week 🥹 - The stream itself stayed up and was mostly stable! Phew 😅. For context, ThousandsTV is not a twitch wrapper, it's a web3-native streaming tech stack built we built specifically to connect game, web/mobile, and blockchain together all at the same time. There are a LOT of moving pieces going on behind the scenes. - We brought viewers INTO THE GAME! Viewers showed up in the stands of the arena, with connected wallets/assets, triggered actions/rallies from chat, and were seen and heard during the whole stream. - The brand new 2v2 build of Wildcard was (mostly) stable and our players and viewers seemed to be having a blast down on the field and up in the stands. It was thrilling to watch Team Blue dominate, even though Team Red held their own in game 3! - Our production crew did an insanely good job running the stream, managing the players, shoutcasters, and talent, and producing a top-notch show. Of course we will work hard to make every stream better than the last, but I was super proud of how our team "rolled with the punches" during today's event. Stuff that didn't work (and/or needs to be dramatically improved): - Although it's fun to see chat going crazy, chat spam is actually something we are passionate to FIX. As you can see from the attached video, chat spam dominated today's stream and made it impossible for anyone to even see anyone else's messages. We have some GREAT ideas for how to fix this and actually turn chat spam into a FUN and exciting and not annoying thing - but those improvements didn't get shipped in time for this event. - Credits purchasing flow needs a LOT of work. As I'm sure y'all know, bringing money on chain is pretty complicated, and although we've been working hard to make this as seamless as possible, it still needs a TON of improvements. Many users who WANTED to spend money today weren't able to and/or ran into frustrating bugs in the credit purchase flow. Fixing this is obviously a top priority for our team. - Rallies need a LOT of work. Spectator-interactive features like rallies are at the heart of our vision for Wildcard. These "stream apps", as we call them, are the UNLOCK for how spectators, viewers and fans directly connect and interact with their favorite competitors, content creators, and communities. The current rally feature HINTS at this potential, but it needs to be WAY easier to understand, use, and have fun with. Improvements are ON THE WAY. - Referees were only partially working. Referees are a key innovation of the Thousands platform. They are AI-driven "personalities" (NPCs) that pay attention to everything that's happening in the arena, both on the field and especially in the stands (i.e. in chat, during rallies, etc.) The referees then make "calls" at the end of every match, rewarding users for their engagement and participation. Unfortunately, the referees weren't fully functional and seemed to drop the ball on recognizing everyone's contributions (especially people who showed up holding valuable assets such as Wildpasses in their wallets, and people who boosted those rallies with credits.) What's happening next: 1. We are combing through ALL the logs from the event right now, to make sure we don't miss a SINGLE action that our viewers and fans took during the event, including what they brought in their wallets (i.e. Wildpass holders!), any credits that were purchased, rallies that users engaged with, etc. This information is normally processed by our referees, who then determine dynamically how they're going to distribute $WC awards. We were originally hoping to complete this process and the subsequent airdrops within a few hours after the event, but given the amount of data, we need a bit more time to run these scripts (and airdrops) in batches instead of all at once, and make sure ALL of the data is being included. IMPORTANT: I will keep y'all updated in real-time here on twitter/X as this process is ongoing, and let you know the moment it's complete and all the awards have been distributed (i.e. when to go check your wallets 😎) 2. PLEASE keep sending us your feedback and bug reports. Open a ticket on our Discord and let us know what you loved, what you hated, and especially what we need to FIX. Given the overwhelming response to this event, it will likely take us several days to process everyone's feedback and fix all the bugs, but we WILL NOT REST until every ticket is closed/resolved.
