just started squatting - any suggestions for form improvement? my right hip is noticeably weaker and it results in the left side of my body rising faster than my right side, creating an imbalance

Push into the ground with the heals, not the toes. Push the knees out on the way down. Back looks good. Make sure you’re wrists are straight, in alignment with your forearms

If you rip ass on the way up it adds extra rocket torque to the lift

Go all the way down. Unless you are powelifting you should be going ass to grass. If you find you can’t keep your back comfortable try putting small plates under the heels. Drive tip through heels and make sure shoulders back and chest forward.

I’d recommend going down in weight so you can work out some of the stabilization errors you’ve got going on. Squat University is a very informative channel on strength, movement, and injury prevention. Take a quick look at this video for what you’ve got rn

If you've just started, I'd recommend... -putting some small plates under your heels: you're leaning onto your toes which could be a mobility issue that you can bandaid with this while you work on it. -start the motion from your hips: right now you're bending your knees first. pretend you're sitting down on smth behind you. -go slower: you're rushing these a bit which is exacerbating some bad habits like limiting your ROM

Main issue I see is the butt wink at the bottom of ur squat and your heels lifting up. If your hips are sore you can try warming them up with an abduction machine. A lot of the time poor squat form is a result of limited mobility of the ankles/hips.

Keep your feet flat throughout the entire movement. Wouldn’t say your hip is weaker. You just have stability issues and it’s causing your right leg to carry more weight. Do a couple warm up exercises to open up your hips and stretch your hip flexors. Also try squatting lower 👍🏼

“Screw” your feet into the ground drive through the whole foot and don’t let your heels lift off, some of that could be ankle mobility , it’s ok to have a slight raised object such as a plate under your heels. Work on ankle mobility as well it can be the root of other issues

if you need to equalise then do accessory on the right leg and hip, slow eccentric to increase time under tension and go ass to grass, youll get maximum hypertrophy on that slower eccentric phases and getting a deeper stretch. focus on keeping your back and core braced
