Pam Bondi’s response to Rep Sydney Kamlager-Dove: “Her district includes Culver City and she’s not talking about any crime in her district. Nothing about stopping crime in her district. She’s not even worth getting into the details.” Pam Bondi thought this was a clapback. My wife and I raised our two kids in Rep. Kamlager-Dove’s district. We have been residents for decades and have always felt safe, except for that time in 2020 I read about right wing extremists showing up in our area to start race wars. That’s what made me buy my first gun.

I spent two hours yesterday at Delaney Hall in Newark where 700 detainees are being held by ICE. What I saw and heard was horrific: worm-infested food, no access to medical care, no way to connect with their families. Many of the detainees were lawful visa holders, including one 18-year-old who is missing her graduation and prom because she is being held in a cell. This is not America. This is unacceptable, and it has to stop now.

Immigration detention is a multi-million dollar industry, but what I saw at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center wouldn't show it. Limited access to phones and clean clothes is unacceptable and another sign of the inhumane treatment of migrants at the hands of this Administration.

What I witnessed at the ICE holding facility at Mesa Gateway Airport was deeply disturbing. No beds, no showers, despite the fact that people are often held beyond 12 hours. This is exactly why Arizonans don’t want to see ICE expand within our communities and why I'll continue to oppose any funding for ICE.
