Funeral processions are being held for the five Al Jazeera journalists who were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City. Al Jazeera called it a "targeted assassination" and a blatant attack on press freedom. The Israeli military admitted to carrying out the strike, but claimed Anas al Sharif was the head of a Hamas terrorist cell, allegations that both he and the TV network have denied. 186 journalists have been confirmed killed in Gaza since October 2023.
