So it’s full-blown fascism, then.

Fascist has taken over in Tennessee, glad I don’t live in that state.

Today is a dark Day in the history of the United States. Tennessee just voted to expel a Democrat US state senator because he was protesting along with high school students on gun violence, ridiculous.

His speech brought goosebumps. We all need to fight for democracy, Republicans can not and won’t win

I’m assuming this can be taken to court and all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary ? Anyone know if this is correct?

They didn't expel a child molester. Instead they expelled someone fighting for children! How far the GOP has fallen. Shameful!

Not sure this process is legal given the political intent behind each expulsion. Look for the CONSERVATIVE SCOTUS to overturn it by either a 6-3 or even a 7-2 margin (though that obviously won’t be immediate).

This is a giant step on the road toward autocracy. On US soil. A political party that can no longer win by appealing to the majority is ready to END democracy in America. And they might actually succeed, unless more Americans wake up to the state of politics in the US in 2023.

Thank you @TNGOP for showing us *exactly* who you are. And thank you to @brotherjones_ for standing up for communities who need and deserve a voice.

The only real question is which Republican-dominated legislature will pull this stunt next.

So this is clearly a case of First Amendment retaliation. They were expelled because they exercised their rights to free speech. Federal case incoming.

wait! TN, in a few moments, expels members from its legislative branch for attending a peaceful, lawful demonstration protected by the #1stamendment but our country can’t put on trial the author &leader of #January6thinsurrection?! Especially when he took an oath to protect it!

They chose the NRA over Democracy. They dont care about free speech, freedom to protest, the rights of Americans, the lives of Americans.

I have a feeling that we are going to be hearing A LOT about and from Justin Jones. Remember Obama’s speech before the Democratic Convention in 2004? I think he may well be another Obama (only MUCH more progressive). I’m going to pin this Tweet. 💙✅

Just watched this disgrace live. Hit me hard... this isn't democracy. This is despicable, deplorable, and intentionally destructive. This is just horrifying.

The Tennessee @GOP just acted like the Nazi party in 1930’s Germany. Absolutely disgusting and disgraceful. This is the Republican Party in 2023.

They should be ashamed of themselves but they have proven they have no low bar. Justin Jones is handling this with such dignity. I am so impressed with this guy.

@MuellerSheWrote The point was made that this is not Trump, this is the Republican Party! I thought it was a great point. They have become this and they FULLY SUPPORT THE EXTREMIST AGENDA!

So… someone like George Santos lies to his constituents and is still in office. No GOP members motion to kick him out. These Reps peacefully protest with the constituents who elected them, and those constituents lose the people they chose to rep them? Wtf.
