As far back as 2017/2018, I saw the electric vehicle revolution coming and presented a bill before the 8th Senate that could have positioned Nigeria to lead from the front in Africa’s transition to electric mobility. The proposal was heavily contested and ultimately rejected. Today is a good day to remind Nigerians of what happened, and of the opportunities we risk losing when we fail to prepare early for the future.

Because precisely they are suffering from the loss of competitiveness of their civilian industry, their major machine tools and machinery and automotive industries, and so they’re looking to try and prop them up with government contracts.
