I really like the way they made Kabuto's base form rider kick simultaneously the most and least cinematic thing ever. If you boil it down it's just a roundhouse kick, it's not flying like most kicks are, what he's doing is just turning around and doing a horizontal kick

I think a lot of what makes this work is that toku suit actors are really, really good at using fight choreography as a kind of visual language.

the filming technique from this is *almost* like those weird interpolated 60 fps edits people make that usually looks gross, but I love how used intentionally for that freakiness makes it really appealing

Part of it is how freakin GOOD the suit actors and choreo are. They are selling the idea of a confident, still fighter who is arrogant because he knows he’s so fast. The guy doesn’t even have a combat stance, he just stands up straight, then goes directly into a block and counter

The problem is that Kamen rider has the exact same problem most things have, that is to confuse superspeed with time manipulation. The movie Eternals was the closest to ever showing superspeed as actual someone going FAST not just time stopping or slowing around the person

More like any rider with speed is already cooler than any live action using speed powers. Faiz, Kabuto (best example), OOO sometimes, Drive, Build, Zero-One... Revice sometimes. Yea!

People seem to forget Shin Kamen Rider's fight with the Wasp Aug.

Coming from heisei 2nd phase to 1st phase was rough but Kabuto easily eases me to that just because of its clock up portrayal. After that it's a smooth binge watch to other first heisei phase riders

I literally watched this show because of the gif of Kabuto kicking those 3 worms out of the air during clock up.
