👏👏👏Chamath Palihapitiya thought very little of President Trump when he came into office. But as time passes, he realizes how wrong his outlook was. The ultra-successful businessman and early executive at Facebook shows how a true free thinker can adjust their opinions. The whole All-In Pod also praised Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, a senior advisor to Trump and in charge of brokering peace between Israel and Palestine. Kushner's recent long-form interview on Lex Friedman's podcast brought praise. Chamath: "But Jared Kushner is thoughtful. He's smart. I was fed all these lies for years about how this guy was, like, moping around in the shadows and this and that, and it was all not true. David Sacks: "[Trump] was willing to meet with Kim Jong Un. He was willing to meet with Putin and Xi Jinping, and he avoided criticizing them personally. He didn't call them dictators. He talked about how smart they are. It's the art of the deal. Right. I mean, at the end of the day, he's looking to do business, and we need a little bit more of that. And I think this is why Jared Kushner was successful. He went in there with the mindset of a businessman. How do we find something that's beneficial to both sides?" Chamath: "I think that when Trump was elected, I was told that it was the end of the world, and that's what I thought. And I'd already underwritten him as an F, okay? And then, four years into the presidency, he was probably like a C in my mind. And then, as I get a little bit of distance away, I realized, no, hold on a second. This guy was like a B, B-plus. Like, he was pretty good. "But the further and further I get away from him and the less emotional I am, he did a pretty good job. He was a pretty good president." Jennifer Garner reveals Matthew McConaughey ate 500 calories a day while Jared Leto went to Whole Foods just to smell broccoli during the filming of Dallas Buyers Club “It reminds me how much I loathed watching Matthew and Jared waste away. Ugh, this was a painful movie to make. God, I had a front row seat to some incredible performances” “I remember walking out of the hair and makeup trailer and waiting for Jared to come down the stairs of the trailer because I just wanted to be there in case he passed out on the way down” “He was going to Whole Foods after work and smelling broccoli. I don’t know how he did it. He just didn’t eat” “Matthew had done a very disciplined diet that was maybe 500 calories a day or something, but it started with tapioca in the morning, and then he would have a can of tuna kind of broken up” “But it was very specific, and it was truly awful to see, especially because there was no money. So craft service was like a box of donuts, and you could smell them” “And I just remember being like, ‘Somebody move the donuts away from these guys’” “Matthew’s emotions were so close to the surface. I remember us shooting a scene sitting on steps inside somewhere, and the emotion of the scene hit him, and it was so enormous he could hardly even contain it” “Everything about him was paper thin making that movie. We had made Ghosts of Girlfriends Past together before that and were friends. And so coming into it, it was just like I was seeing a ghost of somebody that I’d known”

“The last time that we were touring and stuff, I think touring is quite an isolating experience. And on top of that, when we started touring, it was 2021, so it was kind of like still depths of the pandemic. We were like one of the first tours to go back out. So I think that tour started in that way where it was like, I was really bubbled up even kind of within the tour. And then staying on that tour, we put an album out and it ended up being like two and a half years type time. It's just a long time to be in like a bubble where you're not really spending that much time like in the world around you, other than shows and hotels and stuff. And when I finished, I kind of went off and was spending a lot of time in Italy, and was kind of like having this quiet time, and I was just feeling a lot of my life as I was kind of like, craving like quiet and kind of like private spaces. I was just feeling myself kind of like shut out a lot of the world, “I think, and I think the last couple of years for me was about, you know, there's a lot of things that I think I got used to saying no to, like invites from friends and like maybe a weekend trip or like a birthday party or something. I think I just got used to, you know, if I have a week at home, I don't want to go somewhere else for three days. I just want to stay home, you know. And I think when I got to Italy and was kind of out in this quiet place, I felt like, okay, if I'm going to spend all this time out here and I'm going to keep saying no to everything, I'm just going to like shut myself off from the world. And while parts of that sound appealing, I also like, I love people and I love like being in the world, you know, so it was kind of, I think for me, like there's been both the thing of like learning to set boundaries and stuff is a large part of that has also been learning when not to set boundaries and when to open up. Being intentional with the things that you don't do and being intentional with the things that you do do. So, you know, as a message in the album sleeve, where I said like thanks to all the people who helped me know when to say no and when to say yes. I think both of those have like greatly enriched my life.” - Harry about feeling isolated during his last tour and opening himself up to the world again on Q
