Karla Joy nails it here. Canadians have resigned themselves to voting left or more left. People don't seem to care about unsustainable levels of public/private debt or gov't corruption. I'm really not sure where the Conservative Party can go from here.

I suspect that life is going to get much worse for Canadians and at some point it will be so bad that the pendulum will swing back towards the centre and maybe a bit right of centre. I just hope that the country isn't in ruins when it happens.

It doesn’t matter what Pierre could have done. The NDP handed the L liberals a win coupled with Trump 51st rhetoric and elbows up campaign. I’m reading comments here that he should have changed direction. No change would have got him elected.

The Conservative party has to be retooled and revamped to be an actual Conservative party. Right now they just have a guy that wants to be safe.

My opinion is that Pierre should have picked a lane and stayed there. We were at a point where people were so fed up with the Liberals that he should have placed himself as anti-Liberal. No Immigration No placating special interest groups Reduce inflation Reduce taxes Support small business and O&G He should not have said he would cut any government services as too many Canadians see Socialism as a good thing. The whole thing with him siding with Liberals against Trump hurt him with his base. He should have stayed out of it and he should have pointed out that Libs dropped most tariffs on April 16, lying about their Elbows Up position. He also should have hammered on Carney’s shady past and business dealings. I believe he threw away a surefire win by trying to play it safe.

is 1000% correct here. Pierre's Conservative movement was (let's hope it still is) one of the greatest conservative political movements in Canada. The problem is that Liberals, and Boomers (who are super Liberal), were super motivated to vote because of the Trump narrative. I talked to a lot of Liberal Boomers at the time and they seemed to think that Trump was literally going to militarily annex Canada with boots on the ground and the only way to stop him was to vote for an experienced banker. It was a dirty game, and I don't think anyone else could have done better as leader of the CPC than Pierre did. I seriously believe that. Conservatives in Canada should be proud of how well Pierre performed and be hopeful for the next election with Pierre Poilievre as leader.
